Making A Perfect Throw (With Physics)

I don't know about you, but I can nail an underhand toss almost every time. It's something human brains are good at. Maybe it's because I grew up loving baseball? Dunno. It's just one of those things.

In physics though? Holy wow is this a complicated topic. Finding ballistics tables and equations is all very possible, but mostly those are concerned with figuring out how far a thing is going to go if you know the initial force and angle. They aren't usually built for the ball tossing problem:

"I know the place the ball is being thrown from, and I know where I want it to hit, and I know the angle I want it to be thrown at - tell me how hard to throw it."

You can derive that equation, of course, but it's non-trivial. Unless you're @AndrewR_Physics, who noticed my plea for help, and sent me this:

... and now that's where I leave you, if you're not a backer. If you ARE, though, go check out the $3-tier post for the actual code you can copy paste.

If you aren't? Honestly, the above will get you there pretty fast. Andrew's work is fantastic, and relatively easy to follow. Certainly as easy as any other ballistic equation, anyways.
