JVC D Series Cap Kit Installed!

I finished installing my Nichicon Cap Kit for the JVC AV36D501. It took about 3 hours to complete. Now I need to clean off the remaining dust and flux residue. Then I can reassemble and finally test this TV out!

More coming soon......

I have the same exact D Series AV 36D501 produced OCT 2000. I picked it up yesterday. No remote but I have a 20 inch D series with the stock remote. The AV20D303 is nice and sharp with uniform focus and only minor geometry issues. The 36" seems to over accentuate the whites in the center even with contrast all the way down while blurring the sides especially at corners. Also have convergence and geometry issues at the corners which may be the main cause of blur. The tv was filthy and we know what that can do to old caps. I'm thinking a thorough cleaning and capacitor replacement should come first before adjusting anything outside of brightness & contrast. I will send you an email requesting the cap kit list. I'm also interested in your thoughts as to whether or not the caps are a contributing factor to the uneven focus and / or the convergence and geometry flaws. I guess after seeing the 20 inch I am disappointed at the 36 inch in terms of image quality. I'm using HD retrovision y/pb/pr cables with an SNES in both cases.

Can you send me an email request directly? I can forward you list and order sheet. snutt541@gmail.com

Hey Steve, thanks for all the great content. I have the 32" version of this TV and am planning to do a full cap replacement just like what you did. Would you be able to share the full list of caps, assuming they'd be the same for the 32" and 36"?

Thanks! I went through and double checked the caps to make sure I installed them all correctly. Hopefully I can get it fired up tomorrow!
