Patreon Release: September 2022

Evening all! I feel like I should be posting something today... oh, yes, that's it! September's Patreon release! In fact, I'm doing something new and not particularly exciting to celebrate it, with a release image that's actually somewhat consistent with my other renders! Yeah... I'm easily excited, okay?

Anyway - for all those new here, you'll receive your files via an email invite link to redeem your files via MyMiniFactory within 24 hours of your signing up (I have to manually issue invites, so you may have to wait a little sometimes - since I have to sleep too!) - and as always you'll get your cheeky 15% discount code for the Solwyte Studios MyMiniFactory store in the following Patron-exclusive post, so keep an eye out for that. In addition, in that post there will also be a featured discount code specifically discounting all the previously-released Covenants of Mars tracked vehicles!

Usually in these posts I describe all the releases by starting small-ish and working up to the big release, but, you know me, I can't resist a big sexy murder bot. So, let's start with the Stykaria-Class Assault Construct!

Oh yeah. Now that's a robot. May I present the latest entry into the Secutor armoury, with the Stykaria-Class Assault Construct. Unlike its predecessors, whose roles in warfare were adapted from work and deconstruction vehicles, the Stykaria was specifically developed for combat, with heavier layered armour and two Aquiline Talons. The Stykaria is a class of Secutor, and the Assault variant is the most widely seen, as Secutors go, however it is not the only one. It has comparatively light armour compared to the Stykaria-Class Reaper and Stykaria-Class Constructs, each whom specialise in heavier armed warfare, and are likely to appear here in coming months!

Next up, we'll go for something a little ... odd, the possessed thralls that form part of the legions of Khurybah.

As the Dæmons of Khurybah rise, dragging the bones and flesh of the fallen together into warped, broken bodies, some find themselves with the ability to animate those still alive. Like puppets, those unfortunate enough to encounter a spirit with this power are stripped of their autonomy, simply guided by the hateful whims of their new master, and too, like them, their bones gradually warp, distending from their skin and forming huge talons, perfect for tearing apart both their friends, families, enemies and innocent bystanders without any distinction, nor any choice of their own. Though known as Hollowed Ones, or Hollows, as their appearance has earned them a reputation for being without souls, they are tortured still further than that by being perfectly conscious, and aware of their actions, but unable to change them. It tends to be their last act of defiance to scratch out their eyes with their bare hands, knowing their fate, and knowing the best they can do is blind themselves to it.

Accompanying the Legion Hetaera, these  will be the first selection of the Hollow Ones available, and as more factions within The Promised Land are explored, more Hollow Ones will be made to accommodate for the diversity of races enslaved by the Legions of Khurybah as their newfound thralls.

Continuing on the theme of infantry sets for the denizens of the Promised Land, the Covenants of Astyri now have a full set of model options for their Ochystan Kyporii:

This month, sees the release of a second pack of Ochystan Kyporii, accompanying the chain-blades-for-arms kit that came out in July, with a new set of ten unique leg poses, new head options, and new pairs of arm poses for equipping your Kyporii with either Phase Carbines and Shotrifles. As always, these will be entirely compatible with the previous set of Kyporii so you can mix and match options as you wish! It also includes both a Phase Carbine and Shotrifle so you can add them to other models as secondary equipment or as vehicle details.

Arriving alongside the Ochystan Kyporii is a new, gigantic vehicle too!

As the Myriax Destroyer is an entirely combat-based vehicle compared to its Myriax Executor cousin, so too is the Ourephyx Exterminator to its predecessor, the Ourephyx Marauder. Dispensing its troops capacity in favour of two Trilectic Blasters and the Krytane Rotary Missile Launcher with radium missiles, this vehicle deals only in scorched earth. The firing of its Trilectic Blasters arc through the air in bursts of lightning bolts, setting ablaze all life in its path, and either disrupting or completely neutralising most mechanical and communications equipment. Each volley of missiles leaves an unquenchable chemical fire that blisters and slowly kills all those even far from its blast radius, those afflicted suffering a horrific protracted demise known as the Krytane Disintegration.

This kit features a full range of elevation for the Krytane Launcher, plus cuts dedicated for both Mars and Saturn-sized printers. Owing to the way in which the gun attaches, one has been included that sandwiches between the two tracks in the Mars cuts, and another slots onto the preassembled model for the Saturn cuts (this one is labelled OurephyxExterminator_Cannon_Complete).

Well, let's just take a break from supersized vehicles for a moment and take a total tangent down Skjalos lane!

Though this is a new addition to the Skjalos infantry lines, it very much stands out from their human brethren, at almost twice their height when fully standing. The Ymirae of the Sykaran wastes are thought by many outsiders to be simple brutes, murderous animals who kill on instinct alone, however these perspectives are a little inaccurate. Far from simple, the Ymirae are intelligent, cunning creatures, and vicious in battle. Though among the Skjalos ranks, the relations between the Guard and Ymirae are, as they have always been, balanced on a tense knife edge, however on the field all internal conflicts are put aside and few can withstand a combined charge of the Skjalos Guard accompanied by Ymirae. Wielding their Sykaran Gauntlets as both a shield and a bladed weapon to deadly effect, and using their off-hand to tear apart swathes of foes with their talons, each Ymira is a fighting force on their own, and nigh unsurvivable in groups.

Each Ymira is equipped with a Sykaran Gauntlet and one unarmed claw, and this kit includes both helmeted and unhelmeted options. All the arm options are modular, so you can make a fair few unique poses, and will allow you to interchange these options with the planned future Ymirae releases (including the following weapon options: siege drills, electrofists, grenade launchers and more)

Last but not least is my favourite of this month's releases, partly because it's a quite unusual design, and one that I've been trying to develop for quite some time.

A little while ago, I tested the waters with a new type of vehicle for the Skjalos Guard, the Alyspe and Ukoia Scraptanks. The Scraptanks were going to be a new line of vehicle miniatures, but after some criticism* and a little introspection, I realised that they weren't really what I wanted to make. I had a vision for them, and the models I'd created, while I liked them, were not quite what I had intended, and since then on and off I've been trying to get the right feel for them.

Today, we finally have success, in the form of the first of the Hybrids range, the Kaiha Scout Vehicle - which has already been ever-so-lovingly dubbed by you guys as the 'Sad Bumper Car'. A civilian vehicle, reinforced with extra armour and retrofitted with shielded windows, caterpillar tracks for offroading, and a rear deck for firing from or attaching an emplaced heavy weapon to. In future months I hope to expand this range with both attachments (ie. weapons, hangers-on, reinforced armour, etc) and new chassis with which the Skjalos can make their way to the battlefield.

I don't know about you guys, but I think that's a pretty solid month's releases, even if I do say so myself: two tanks, a fairly giant-ish robot, and three infantry sets? Yeah, that'll do it.

I'll be posting up the discount codes on Tuesday for this month, and later on in the month I'll be updating this lot with presupports - and in addition, after way too long, the Nemesis-Class Destroyer Engine will finally be getting presupports this month!

You've got a lot of new stuff to print, and I can't wait to see them - if you want to show off your finished prints and models, feel free to post them up in #my-solwyte in my Discord! Finally, If you haven't received an email invitation in a few minutes please send me a message via Patreon or Discord and I'll manually issue you one when I'm back awake!
