Amazing Poor People Inventions in China - Rural Ingenuity - Episode #84

Comments

It is a bit the fault of the English language. Wild duck and tame duck is not the same and not named the same in Swedish. Tame is white with orange beak, like Donald duck. Wild ducks is like a mallard flying and migrating. The tame ones can fly if the are not to fat but it thing they cut the big wing quills to prevent then from flying away from the enclosed pond. Also is Chicken not the baby of a hen and a rooster and the thing we usually eat like a teenaged (in chicken years) hen or rooster that is slaughtered just before adulthood.

In Germany you can buy beer and wine at the age of 16 and more heavy stuff at the age of 18 years :) Yeah, I am from bavaria. Beer is cultural heritage :D

Hope y'all had a happy Lunar New Year as well. Best wishes to you and your folks for the coming year! Hope it's a happy and healthy one! ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿ‡ โœŒ๐Ÿป

FYI, though you guys might find this... well, not amusing, but in keeping with the CHINESE New Year and Loong nonsense. Students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (top 10 engineering school, one of the biggest Chinese student populations) had the CSSA agitating against a display for Korean Lunar New Year (Seollal). https://www.reddit.com/r/UIUC/comments/1apk2x8/uiuc_chinese_students_trying_to_take_down_korean/ Streisand Effect is the lesson they keep having to learn...

This is some deep duck lore

I've had the 'ducks don't fly' argument with my wife. Chinese people aren't as familiar with the smaller, lighter ones that can fly (wild mallards). They have in mind the heavier Pekin ducks (or what we might call 'backyard ducks' which are all white with bright orange bills). Those actually don't fly.
