Little update

First some good news, we recently hit 80,000 subscribers π I still find it all a bit unreal, and at this rate we might hit 100,000 early in the new year. Reaching 100k has always been my internal target for when I would feel like Perifractic's Retro Recipes became a "proper channel". I guess I've always considered any channel in the 6 digits to be the real deal. I know it's just numbers (and a shiny plaque from YouTube!) but it's good to have goals and ambitions so thank you all for your support getting us to 80k and beyond...!
I've also got some exciting projects coming up that I'm equally excited to complete and share with you including:
- Atari VCS "Heavy Sixer" repair, refurb, & video upgrade
- September Funboxing featuring Ladyfractic & some super cool machines that have been on my wish list for decades
- Commodore vs. Atari Conversion Capers - in search of the perfect ported game
- And much more, in fact my list now stretches 2 years into the future... No pressure Peri, no pressure!...

I also wanted to let you guys 'n' girls know this will be one of those increasingly rare weeks where I need to skip a main video whilst I tie up a bunch of loose ends and wait for some parts, as well as attend to some long overdue "real life" and household/family things; yep I forget real life outside 1984 exists sometimes π
But, I hope to make a supporter-only video to give you guys maybe over the weekend or thereabouts, of a "Studio Tour" showing you behind the scenes of the setup along with some new gadgets. This has been requested a few times but I wanted to wait until I had everything the best it could be, and I feel I'm there now with the recent audio upgrades.
Okay that's enough for now. Stay tuned and thank you so much for your ongoing support ππΉ

Cheers Marc. Honestly I have been cautious of taking breaks because I want to be giving value for money. And though "creator burnout" is very real, I guess I felt like it sounded like a white whine, in that I'm very privileged to have this job, and burnout might be hard for some to envisage with such a "cool" job. But also you're right, quality over quantity. With the one week break, despite real life tasks that took up about 4 of the days, I am surprised how revitalized I feel towards videos. So I will try to take your advice more on board in future. Maybe a week off every couple of months kind of thing, but some patron content that week nonetheless. It's something I have discussed in the past, and you guys have been cool with, but I found myself enjoying the creation more so I ended up not taking a break... Now I'm discovering there's an important balance between the two ends of the (ZX) spectrum.

2020-09-20 02:11:43 +0000 UTCCongrats on reaching a new and well deserved milestone! Don't be afraid to take a break once in a while. Too many YT creators end up getting burned out by feeling the pressure of having to make new videos constantly and it isn't good for the quality and for the creator itself. I do love the variation in your videos, too!

I am in complete agreement with your choice to take some family time. 1984 will still be there waiting for you to travel back to for all of us! Thank you for the memory lane trips with a twist and the passion you put into your projects. Congrats and thanks for all you do!
