New Office!

Hello Patrons. The new episode on light guns is now live! You can check it out here: youtu.be/keyDD-Eqom0

This past year, I've been filming everything in my basement. It was a nice-looking setup with the brick, but it had a few issues...

The floor was not level

By about 3 inches, actually. That means every time I filmed something, I had to shim up my furniture to make it look level. It made even the simplest shots take much longer.

The basement is a shared space

We have a little hangout area in the basement where we watch TV/play with the dogs. So anytime I had to film, everyone else got kicked out. It wasn't ideal.

The ceiling wasn't super tall

The ceiling in the basement was about 7.5 feet. Sometimes that isn't enough with my lights.

It wasn't super efficient

My office was on the 1st floor, the basement was...the basement. Every time I had to film, I had to go downstairs. And I really wasn't sure if shots would work out until I saw them on my computer. Needless to say, there was a lot of running up and downstairs.

So Kristin made an offer to switch offices. Kristin had a pretty sizeable office in the back of the house for writing/podcast recording. But since then, she has moved the podcast recording elsewhere. So she was really only using 1/3 of her office. I decided to take that deal!

So this past week, I've been moving in. It was pretty chaotic at first.

One big problem was I needed some more storage. There is a closet in this room, but no shelves. So I fixed that!

I installed 4ft floating shelves to put equipment, games, books, etc.

As of this morning, my office looks like this. Still a work in progress.

Two-thirds of the office will be for filming.

The rest is my desk area.

I used to film and edit in the same room a long time ago. It was a tight squeeze but extremely efficient. Now with this bigger office, I think it will make everything much easier.

And the floor is level!

I'm going out of town to see my family for the holidays. I'll be back the last week of December with a new commentary and plans for 2022. See you then!
