Q&A #2: Do I Miss Being a Teacher?

I can't believe it's December already. I'm not sure how a year can simultaneously drag on forever and fly by, but 2020 has done it.
A quick reminder, we are having a Black Friday sale in our online store. Everything is 20% off, so if you haven't picked up a bullet journal or t-shirt, now is the time.
Let's get on to the Q&A! I picked three questions at random from the comments on my last post.
Are there times you miss being a history teacher? - BrandonDiZebba

Yes, there are absolutely times I miss being a history teacher. Although I consider my YouTube videos a form of teaching, it isn't the same as going into a classroom every day and getting to know your students personally. I think that is what I miss the most.
If I were to teach again, I would do things differently. When I first graduated from college, I had a little bit of a power trip. Just imagine a 21-year old being in charge of a classroom. Yikes! I used to do things the traditional way: Big tests, projects, lots of homework, etc. But if I were to get back into the classroom, I would reduce the amount of homework drastically and allow students to retake assignments as many times as they needed. That feeling of pressure to do well on a test is awful. If a student is willing to re-do an assignment, that shows initiative and willingness to learn.
I would still be a harsh grader, though. Critical feedback is a great way to learn!
I used to teach at the middle school / high school level. But If I were to teach again, I would prefer college-level courses. I could see myself getting back into the classroom someday. You never know!
What do you hope to see with the Legend of Zelda's 35th Anniversary? - Shane Sammons

Wow, 35 years! I always forget the first game came out in 1986. It makes the game seem even more impressive.
My biggest hope is Nintendo does some more developer interviews for the 35th anniversary and releases development docs. These are such good sources for research.
I also wouldn't be surprised if they did some sort of Zelda dungeon maker. I think we saw the beginnings of that in Link's Awakening on Switch.
Maybe it's finally time I did a Legend of Zelda video for the 35th anniversary...
Would you like to do a video on the history and development of the Sonic The Hedgehog Movie? - Ben Malsky

Ok, here is my confession: I have not seen the Sonic the Hedgehog movie yet. I know, I'll turn in my gamer card immediately.
It's certainly a topic I would cover. I can't remember another movie where fan backlash forced the studio to change the film. Maybe I'll sit down this weekend and watch it.
And that's it from me! I hope my US patrons had a great Thanksgiving. See you next week!
