Hello Patrons! Here is what I've been up to this past week.
Back to School
This week, I got accepted into the masters history program at UMKC. I'll be focusing on public history. This means stuff like museums, archives, historical societies, etc. Basically the ability to interpret history for the public. I thought it fit well with what I do on YouTube. I'm excited and hope to learn a lot these next few years!
After I graduated with my bachelors in 2009, I never wanted to go to school again. But the next year, I ran into one of my favorite professors at the post office and she encouraged me to do grad school. The following years, I kept putting it off because of the GRE requirement. For those who don't know, the GRE is a "graduate records examination" standardized test. Many colleges and universities require a certain score to get in.
I've always hated standardized tests, so I never went for it. Luckily, GRE requirements are going away for many universities, including UMKC. When I found out, I immediately applied.
Wait, What About The Show?
The Gaming Historian isn't going anywhere. I'll continue to make content. However, my schedule will become very different. I'm honestly not sure what the work load will be like yet, but I am preparing for the worst.
I have thought about changing this Patreon to a "per creation" charge when school starts. That means you only get charged if I make a video. Right now I average about 1 video per month, and that is with me doing this full-time. Adding grad school would definitely change that. I'll keep you updated on this, but if you have any suggestions, please let me know in the comments.
Mario Paint Script is Done!
And finally, the Mario Paint script is done! I'd estimate this to be about a 30-40 minute video. Not bad for a topic I thought I couldn't do anything with. I've got some great photos, videos, and information that I don't think are readily available. Hoping to have the video done by June 30th.
That's it for me this week. Take care!
