Charge Upfront Changes - Please Read!

Hello Patrons!

In my previous post, I mentioned I was switching to charging upfront. This is because of two reasons.

1.) Whenever I posted on social media that an episode was available for Patrons to watch, a large influx of people would sign up, watch the episode early, then cancel their subscription, without paying. Charging upfront prevents this abuse.

2.) Charging upfront ensures people get the physical rewards as quickly as possible. As soon as someone signs up for a tier with physical rewards, I can immediately send them their reward.

Now for some brief explanation of how this will affect everyone.

If you are currently a Patron and want to keep your tier, nothing will affect you!

Patreon charges every user on the 1st of each month. So if you are already a Patron, you are all set.

I want to upgrade my tier. What happens?

When you upgrade your tier, you will have to pay the difference. For example, Luigi is on the $3 tier. He decides on January 10th that he'd like to get that sweet sticker in the $7 tier. So he decides to upgrade to the Grad Assistant tier. Luigi will pay $4 to upgrade. On February 1st, his bill will be $7 now.

I'm a new user. What happens?

You will be charged upfront for your tier, and then be charged on the 1st of each month. Keep in mind, if you sign up on January 31st, you will be charged on the 31st AND February 1st. Patreon will warn you about this! I highly recommend just waiting to sign up. It sucks, I know.

So when will the new Patreon launch?

With this new information, I will launch the new Patreon on February 1st. This allows everyone to take advantage of the full month and change their tiers without having to pay for half a month.
