Portland Pickups, Rare Images, Punch-Out Progress

This weeks image features a Famicom testing / assembly line. I got this picture from a German video game magazine while researching Punch-Out.

Portland Retro Gaming Expo!

I just returned from Portland Retro Gaming Expo! This year was, once again, a blast. The NES Museum was very cool and featured some one-of-a-kind items. I also picked up a few items. Power Punch II complete-in-box was my #1 goal, because I wanted to show it in the Punch-Out episode. But I also picked up a few other good deals. The oddest pickup was Bio Miracle Bokkute Upa! This was originally a Famicom Disk System game released in 1988, but they put out a cartridge version in 1993! It's a really fun platformer. And yes, you play as a baby.

Rare Images

Lately I have been obsessed with rare images, such as the one in the header image. Thanks to Twitter, I recently uncovered a rare promotional photo of Mike Tyson playing Punch-Out. This did exist on the internet, but the quality was awful. We now have a super high quality version!

It makes me want to create a website to store all these images to share. I'll have to talk with the Video Game History Foundation and see if we can come up with something!

Punch-Out Episode Progress

Last week, I filmed some b-roll at a local arcade repair shop for the Punch-Out episode. Part 1 is almost done, and is probably the hardest part to edit. My goal is to get this out in November. I'll have a rough cut for you all ahead of time.

Back to editing for me! See you next week.
