Currently doing a quick video on the D-Pad: What is it, who invented it, etc.
Right now i'm opening up controllers to see how other companies utilized the D-Pad. Nintendo actually had a patent on the D-Pad until 2005. So how did companies like Sega use one? Take a look.
On the right is the NES D-Pad. A ball pivot is attached to the actual cross-shaped d-pad, which presses down on 4 inputs.
On the left is the Sega Genesis. The ball pivot is attached to the 4 inputs, and the D-Pad is enclosed in a circle.
Look for the full video early next week!
