I know the topic might be controversial but we'd really love your opinion on this one.

Bingo, just what I was saying, without so many words! Well done!

2017-06-04 11:43:41 +0000 UTCI also think you could try flipping the way the route works: Like have Clarke still save Ayame from time to time, but then maybe she develops a crush on him and he's super hesitant because he's Robert's partner. As she becomes more and more corrupt she can keep coercing him into being her Side Dude.

2017-06-04 08:45:42 +0000 UTCWell, the post might seem rigged xD But I just wanted to see how many people didn't like Clarke, and from those who didn't I wanted to know WHY.

2017-06-02 20:24:59 +0000 UTCI really don't like these poll options. There's an awful lot of "Yes kill him" options, but only one "No leave his route alone" option. I feel the best way to go would be to have the route split between tragedy and happiness based on player choices. Say, Clarke route A = Ayame makes some really bad decisions that lead to jealousy and Clarke and Robert killing each other. Clarke route B = Ayame and Clarke ending up together and having a happy ending. Maybe even a Clarke route C that ends the route early when Ayame calls the entire affair off and the two go their separate ways. So for the poll I just voted "no".

2017-06-02 07:28:18 +0000 UTCOh I remember, but in the same regard, you have to do it at YOUR pace... you try to keep doing it to everyone else's pace (particularly for those who don't contribute) you are going to burn out quickly... ...that said, I am not sure about Rasu89, but I wasn't talking about an extended, super deep storyline for Clarke... just make him as a bit character who comes and bails Ayame out if she is in to deep... or if a player wants to change routes in-game. Sort of the way he sort of does it with Melvin from what I heard... Shows up, bails Ayame out, Ayame can offer him herself as a reward and players can just say, yes or no... keep it where it is a repeatable scene till say enough points with Clarke are gathered and it unlocks a new scene... maybe a simple kiss in appreciation to start with and do that 50x's and the player unlocks a feel up scene... do that 50x's and get next step in the route. This frees up the artist to focus on main storyline material, while only needing to add one clip for Clarke per month or so... it actually then falls more on the writer to keep that scene interesting so ever ten of the fifty, change up the writing to show a deeper feeling for Ayame building. Something like (first 10x's): I can't believe that I am kissing my best friend's future wife... what am I thinking? What would Robert say? Oh god, what if he finds out? Then on the next 10x's: Damnit, I am doing it again... some friend I am. Am I any different than the others that have been trying to take advantage of Ayame? I wonder how she feels about this? The ten times after that: She's got to be liking this... she isn't stopping me... hell, why haven't I stopped doing this myself? Could I be falling for her or her for me? Etc... etc... this way it is progression writing wise, still keeping the visuals, but the character can be the route changer during a person's play-through. Melvin started creeping me out after a while and I decided to do a different route, rather than restarting the game, I could go to Clarke who could 'fix the problem' for me, where I don't have to break immersion. At least that was what I was thinking.

2017-06-02 03:05:24 +0000 UTCI agree with you guys, but remember we're an ongoing game that has to show progress, sometimes we speed up things a little because you guys need to get your hands on Hentai scenes and if we keep delivering the same route it might get boring, but we learn with our mistakes and this was clearly one where this route shouldn't be developed yet and we should just do more Melvin / 7-11 / Garcias instead. Mea culpa.

2017-06-01 23:43:08 +0000 UTCI really like the idea that he develops strong feelings for Ayame over through the game, popping in to help her out of situations that may be getting too much for her to handle... his demonstrations slowly winning her over to him. Have so many lusting after her, that it would be nice to have someone that actually can love her, a true confidant who knows what she's been through (while Robert is... well, clueless Robert) and no matter what is there to help and support her.

2017-06-01 23:01:13 +0000 UTCI agree. Clarke seems like he starts off as the "older brother" protector of Ayame, as seen in Melvin's route. Like thswherizat said, Clarke shouldn't start immediately. More like "developing feelings of love" (maybe even mutual) as he helps her before/instead of lusting over her like everyone else.

2017-06-01 22:43:08 +0000 UTCI like that idea, maybe we can put him on hold, just make him appear a few times, get closer to her, freeze the scene for later on, and boom.

2017-06-01 15:22:32 +0000 UTCI think your poll options are a little bit off base... The only option for "Don't kill Clarke" is to keep the route going the way it is. I don't want Clarke gone, but I certainly feel that he's an extremely underdeveloped character for the fact that he supposedly falls in love with Ayame. I think it should be the kinda route that only shows up like halfway through the game, with a character that's been around the whole time. I actually liked his the most when you first met him and he just seemed kind of aloof - not when he's suddenly head over heels into someone. IMO: Keep Clarke, change the 'Clarke Route'. Maybe he doesn't get a full route, just some scenes?

2017-06-01 14:43:58 +0000 UTCI think you should keep him and am going to offer a perspective a bit different here on why... Approaching this as a gamer/designer, depending on your play through, you may not even experience the "Clarke" route (I am pretty much just finding out there is such a route) which means that the game is balanced with enough content that to experience it all means another play-through to get new experiences... Mass Effect sure wouldn't have stirred up as much controversy if it had been a play-through-and-quit game. .. you couldn't get Ashley if you were going after Tali'Zorah... so maybe kind of approach it that way for players. Like Jack (the son), I think Ayame's soon-to-be husband is a wus and push-over... a Charlie Brown sort of character, so having Clarke... who seems spontaneous and sort of a protector/big brother figure adds a dynamic to the storyline that could make his character the coolest and perfect person for Ayame... sort of a buffer for 'less adventurous' players. Lastly, speaking as a novelist here, keep going where the story takes you... don't just give the players the opportunity to have a say in the outcome of characters, let the characters have their say too... each one serves a purpose in being a part of the fabric of the story you weave, give them enough thread to weave their own path, as well. As it stands, Clarke sort of strikes me as a character that would light a match in a room full of gas to get rid of the bad guy and protect the things that he cares about, spouting off a clever one liner like John McClane from Die Hard... if he has to die, make sure he takes a bad guy and the whole damn building (or bar) down with him. :)

2017-06-01 11:59:42 +0000 UTCThis is exactly what I was thinking.. Some people like that stolen by the best friend or love triangle type of situation. I mean this could turn into a threesome later even though that would lean more towards the Garcias route but I think with the right development it could be a possible outcome. I didn't know people disliked Clarke so much..At the moment his route is a bit weak but that's because he hasn't been the main focus. That can also be said with the Garcias. They just haven't been the main focus so they are lacking content that would otherwise have people enjoy those characters in the game. Personally I'm impartial to Clarke but I like the option of having him as a choice.

2017-06-01 10:08:48 +0000 UTCWait, what? I didn't even know Clarke was hated, lol. I just treat him as another route

2017-06-01 08:33:36 +0000 UTCI agree with you, that's why we created Clarke, we just don't want to be creating something only 5% of our fanbase likes xD

2017-06-01 02:39:08 +0000 UTCI don't hate Clarke cause the boyfriend's best friend trope is a classic and it has the most potential for NTR in my opinion. I also don't want it to be mixed with Jack's route cause it seems like it will just dive into another blackmail route which we already have. Not sure though, whatever you think is best!

2017-06-01 02:30:04 +0000 UTCI love your ideas so much guys, it's really great how much your feedback impacts our decisions when making the game. 2Negative4Creep suggested on Discord (which if you guys want to participate and don't know how, let me know via PM) that Melvin comes back in game 4 as a Zombie boss, we instantly loved the idea! So, any suggestion you guys have, even if it seems crazy, everything is fair game, give it to us, we seriously appreciate every feedback and take it into consideration.
