SCI FI LORE -- Sovus Ships I: Destroyer & Corvette

GUESS WHAT I got some more OLD lore bout the Sovus tech race, with these redraws of old navy ships!
-------

N-CCS Class Naval Destroyer - Stellar combat vessels designed to be heavily armed/armored for superiority in fleet engagements, and serve a secondary function in planetary bombardment.  Measuring at 2,056 meters, Destroyers are practical gunships; built as a mobile weapons platform which can serve both offensive and defensive roles.  Destroyers compliment and co-opt with Cruisers as part of offensive fleet maneuvers, and also demonstrate pivotal defensive capability for Carriers.  Whenever assigned defensive operation, Destroyers are often paired with one or more Corvettes as swift escorts, since destroyers are best maintained as fixed weapon platforms under particular circumstances.

Destroyers, though primarily relied on for neutralizing target ships, are useful in carrying out mass bombardments of planetary surfaces and population centers from in-atmosphere, or high altitude orbital bombardment.  Apart from their heavy tonnage and generous weapon placement, Destroyers are fitted with multiple high-impact orbital-sweep cannons for both concentrated dispatch of populations and target vectors. In larger fleets, Destroyers defend Carriers and even Dreadnoughts, when not monitoring higher value targets. Despite high tonnage rating, Destroyers are classified as warships due to their strictly assigned roles of fixed orbital defense or permanent Campaign escorts for priority vessels such as Flagships. In special operations requiring fleet-ship transport, Destroyers can be favored over Cruisers for their fire power and resilience, particularly when special warfare objectives require large scale neutralization and hard insertion [boarding, orbital shock deployment].

- Assault [N-AWS] — Orbital support and bombardment
- Combat [N-CCS] — Fleet defense, naval engagements, special operations

 -----------------------------------------------------------

N-SWS Class Naval Corvette - The most diminutive vessel in the Sovus Imperial Navy, the Corvette measures in at a mere 818 meters, and is appropriately designated a light warship with minimal armament and minute tonnage. Despite their stature, Corvettes fulfill a critical role escorting fleets of every size and function, present at company for every variety of Capital ship - and in some cases other warships of critical value. These nimble and evasive vessels make use of their skeletal composition and non-demanding engines to establish combat perimeters, fast-attack patterns, and scouting parties around designated fleets and other vectors. What they lack in armor and ordinance they make up with maneuverability, stealth, and speed.

Aside the primary support Corvette, a heavier combat-centric variants exists which facilitates a secondary application: dispatched by their designate Fleet as reconnaissance vessels, often in light squadrons or alone, these variants make use of advanced shielding and observation hardware to avoid detection while simultaneously gathering logistical intelligence. These “Surveyor” ships are deployed ahead of invasion fleets to conduct evaluation sweeps and assess potential vectors, or investigate established enemy territory for prolonged periods. Corvettes therefore carry the necessary personnel and stored armament to deploy a small-scale incursion, or boarding action - typically a small complement of elite infantry, light supporting infantry, mechanized scouting probes/synths, and the means to transport them. Due to the sensitive nature of intelligence operations, there exist Assault-class [N-AWS]  Stealth Corvettes are also apt to house and deploy contingents of special operatives to perform a variety of assignments at the discretion of the SpecWar echelon.
