Added 2024-12-08 18:40:52 +0000 UTCHey Patrons, something to fill the gap before People's Choice goes up Monday. Peter Green - one of BB King's favorite guitarists of the 1960's. (Sorry about the lousy video quality!) Tracks sampled: Looking for Somebody, The Supernatural, and Underway. May I also suggest:

Your story made me smile from ear to ear, Tnulb! This earliest version of Fleetwood Mac is my favourite and Peter Green has been one of my favourite musicians since the 70's. You're not alone, most people haven't heard Mac's version of Black Magic Woman and think it was written and performed first by Santana. I miss those days when my first exposure to a new LP or even artist was often when walking into a record store and hearing for the first time what the person behind the counter was spinning. Good memories. (dad)

There's something about the warmth of the sound that I really appreciate. I often go to record shops and browse for hours. I consider myself a very eclectic music listener so, I truly look through all to most genres. One day, I walk into a shop I frequent often, Now closed π’, "7th Heaven"(KCMO). Like most record shops, they always have something spinning. As I'm perusing the albums, I'm hit with such a cool vibrant tune, that I recognized but it was by sounded like a cover. I knew that Santana had a song called "Black Magic Woman" but this is blowing my mind. I immediately go to the long bearded fellow behind the counter and ask "WHAT IS THIS?!" He tells me, it's an album by Fleetwood Mac and I'm confused. I mean, I know Fleetwood Mac but this isn't the Fleetwood Mac I've heard before. He explained that this was their earlier stuff. Mind you, I'm a bit introverted so it isn't like me to do this but I immediately ask if I can buy this. He says "sure" and takes it off of the platter, puts it in the sleeve and I buy it. The album is called "Vintage Years", released in 1975, it's a compilation of their early work (24 songs). It is INCREDIBLE and I spin it often. It also gives a lot of history in the gatefold. I'll often put it on when friends or family come over and it's inevitable that someone will ask "who is this?!". So bluesy and cool. This was my later introduction to early Peter Green and his undeniable talent. I really enjoyed this "Dad's Pick" episode. Thank you
