“But… how is that possible??” Ameena Ashton sounded utterly at a loss, gaping down at Viv. “It would have to interact directly with your neuroline web. It would have to influence your posterior and temporal lobes simultaneously to affect your audio and visual cortexes like that.” The younger doctor looked around at Willem Mayd, standing beside her. “I-I’ve never heard of anything like that…?”
“Nor has anyone, Ameena. At least as far as I’m aware.” The lieutenant colonel, too, was studying Viv through his spectacles. He was apparently so focused on her, in fact, that he’d slipped into addressing Ashton casually. “More likely the effect on the Captain’s vision and hearing is a result of outside stimuli. Perhaps just a cleaner targeting of the Device systems involved?”
von Bor looked dubious, but the old chief medical officer continued before she could say anything to the contrary.
“If not, though… it would certainly mean something altogether new to the ISCM has walked through the door of Galens. Again.”
It happened one at a time. First Mayd and Ashton turned, then the rest of the adults. Even von Bor and Dent looked up and around, as eventually did Viv, Aria, Chancery, and Logan.
All eyes, as one, settled on Rei. Rei, who refused to meet anyone’s gaze but Viv’s, a mixture of what could only be triumph, excitement, and a little bit of fear painting his expression.
At least until Catcher popped up over the back ledge of the ring to stand beside him, sweaty but grinning as he looked around with interest.
“So… What I miss?”

Its not possible to stop reading this darn series once you start. Ive lost tons of sleep reading before bed and not having the willpower to stop. Bryce has a way of sucking you in so bad its silly! 😂😂

If that becomes a pattern, the ISCM could start transferring other high ranking students to train with Rei. It only took 1/2 a year for them to be influenced by Shido, so they could effectively build a larger group with more specialized skills. It would also be awesome if Lennon got something from his month being on the team.

2025-01-09 19:09:21 +0000 UTCContinuity thing Bryce, Rei does mention having a display in Book 2 when they're testing Phalanx Mode and Temporal Step "Because my display told me its 'ready'". Now I can understand if Dent, Takeshi and Reese think he's talking about his NOED presenting the info, but it seems a little too poignant of a comment for it to completely be lost among the three. Not criticizing, just addressing something that I've noticed and wanted to bring to your attention in case you wanted to take a look at it.

We left off with Viv about to hit Von Bor from behind and Catcher was already back— as the other comments have said that only makes sense if Catcher has opened his mouth again and put his foot back into it.

2025-01-09 15:01:41 +0000 UTCSlight rewrite to 29 then if Catcher is only showing up now since he'd appeared after the initial reaction to her evolution but before the demonstration. Otherwise yeah seems crazy for this ability. Just makes you wonder if the others will also wind up with crazy unique ones at some point.
