Agreed with your comment on the HUD. How was Rei supposed to know that having a HUD wasn't a standard upgrade that happened with a full helm. It's not like users really talk about that sort of thing. It would have been a nice touch for Rei to be really confused as to it being something that was unique

I believe he can easily, but you are right. This book is going to get interesting. Lol.

Or at least be the "sane" one and question if spending enough time around Rei to get a chunk of his cad in her brain is actually worth it. Because the possibilities for shido to overtake and destroy free will and do all sorts of other bad stuff only grow. Before it was just a single user with potentially no cap on how strong they could grow. Now it might be able to puppet other users who also have s-ranked growth in the future.

2025-01-04 08:41:41 +0000 UTCBut combat dummies are supposed to simulate the effect it would have on any other person, so it not reacting in fear but disengaging from combat is evidence against that. I find the theory that Endwalker interacts with neuroline of her opponents much more plausible

I don’t think it paralyzes or freezes targets like some have suggested at least not in the traditional sense. I think the construct dummy couldn’t react as a sentient being would but Von Bore can, and I think it is a psychological (fear) ability works by conveying through imagery or feelings a sense of inevitably that the END is coming and there is nothing they can do to even slow it down.

It would also be a really interesting explanation as to how Shido was learning the various forms. Each shard was teaching Shido somehow and in turn acting as a catalyst to the others. Agree with the comparison to DBZ, this is a lot of fun

I will have to make sure I bring my kindle on vacation next week to get my answer. I liked the addition to 28. It gave me a smile. Also looking forward to the future as Shido imbues the rest of Firesong with their armor design.

I think I prefer Jetstream, but Jetwing over Jetway for sure. Gemela sounds like she looks awesome! I interpreted her swords as being clipped point falchions with the reverse of the clipped point as a cutting edge too - which is exactly what I saw in my dream a few weeks ago!!! I hope I was indeed right! The skull mask, and three eyes, alongside the ghostly after images are really a potent look. Definitely see why she got her arena name of Witchwalker!! It seems to me that Endwalker is a sort of distraction ability - like the opposite of taunt or hate which causes the target to lose focus and kind of go into a trance. If it is… holy shit! She’s going to get a hit on the Ivory Shield isn’t she :oD One thing there, didn’t von Bor use her whole device in that first session which put Rei over the top to B1? The two Pawn class did, so I assumed she did. Maybe I was mistaken. Interesting that the adults didn’t know about Rei’s HUD, as I honestly thought that was a standard thing. At the very least I would have assumed Kalus would have figured it out when he asked Rei if his device was tracking him in the first training session (chapter 18 or 19 now). That it was news to Guest and Dent is interesting in the extreme. That Viv’s is different make sense, though that green line may take some getting used to. I am wondering why Gemela isn’t doing the highlights, but maybe that’ll come once her shard has finished growing (another half a percent left right?). Hopefully we’ll get more on why the adults were shocked Rei (and Viv) have HUDs like that, and whether they really are unique to them or something. Excellent drop today! Can’t wait for more!!!!

2025-01-03 21:00:59 +0000 UTCHuh some interesting information this chapter. I'd just assumed all helms featured HUD displays like Rei's and was one of the major advantages of them beyond defense. Apparently that's not the case. Viv's appears to be unique as well though curious why it doesn't have the color designation since that seems universally useful. The ones that seem specific to her mobility make sense though. Makes me curious about what the others may gain. I could see Aria getting ones tailored perhaps to measured force of an incoming hit and predictions on their aim for example. Also did not see that coming for Endwalker. It seems like it sort of very temporarily puts the recipient in a trance that leaves them wide open. Also seems like it's single target. That ability being an AOE would be truly broken. Curious how odd the helm that developed is. Feels much more custom if that makes sense as a description.
