Not sure if the next release will be Chapter 26, or what was going to be Chapter 26 included as the second half of 25 v2. Love this rough of the reunion, but might need more to make everyone feel what I want them to.

Not sure if this was caught but a few chapters back when Cashe is reacting to Kallus being arias brother it made her appear a bit dumb to me. I know she's not but it had been revealed I think a page earlier when Kallus said yo sis to Aria and Cashe shouldn't have missed that unless maybe she was in shock?

Only after that did he seek out high rank trainers. So when Chancery chides him for being the bad example it didn’t funk true. His personality is sick that I would expect him to get really angry at such an accusation, saying “I never sought that shit out!” With a glare. Or something similar.

2024-10-12 01:40:16 +0000 UTCI enjoyed the chapter despite the inconsistency in who knew about Viv’s user unique ability. However I really wonder why Viv was so ‘small’. The energy requirement for regrowing a neuroline must be really significant but by the 24th century wouldn’t medical science be able to do electrical muscle stimulation and sufficient calorie intake intravenously to maintain muscle mass. Although i suppose the electrical impulses from muscle stimulation might have interfered with regrowing the neuroline.

2024-10-08 12:11:24 +0000 UTC@Alexander did you forget the threat at the end of book 2 where the ISCM is threatening to separate the team and put them in different schools. Rei is under a sponsorship contract to get training. That would be an easy form of punishment. Another easy form is prison. If you remember from book 1, when Rei was brigged he still had training privileges, they could accelerate that to have more training hours to get the most out of him, hell, if they pulled him out of classes and solely trained him to be the killing machine they need, it would be a punishment to him and an advancement of the iscm’s goals for him

Everyone else is under the impression that things are fine and the war is actually going Humanity's way. So, no, Guest would have no problem brigging the hell out of Firesong for disobeying orders. After all, they are still just CADETS(if very talented ones) as far as he is concerned.

I even think you could repurpose the last scenes as hiding LINK if Viv starts to slip that she got 2 things. But you still need to redo the middle with a possible Endwalker reveal since everyone knows Viv got an ability - or rewrite the von Borr reveal.

But in the chapter where Reece gets called on the carpet for messing with the intra-schools bracket in the first book, Guest's comments in the after talk show that Maddie and Dent are a couple.

There was the 1 inconsistency, the Ivory Shield already exposed Viv having evolved with special ability. As she had overran Guest with a tongue lashing, equivalent to she's out of the service and old enough to not be gagged. The team was present and there was some tension as the found out Aria and Rei already knew. Can't wait to see the upcoming training, but predict there will be some time gaps to move the story along.

Maybe I’ve just missed a couple details on the rereads and only really noticed it back when chapter 17 came out on this one where it pretty much directly said it.

That is the kind of thing that would require punishment even if it hurt Galens too. They know this. You cannot allow cadets to disobey orders. Ever.

I don’t recall any mention in the first two books that they were dating each other if I’m reading that right or if she’s just calling her girlfriend as a friend. I remember Maddie saying she had some date in the first book but it never said who it was with.

She didn’t tell Firesong the name of the ability, Rei and Aria and Dent know that, but that’s the only part Catcher, Chancery, and Logan don’t know. Doubt that’d change the emotion of the chapter, but definitely the majority of the conversation itself. Love the interplay with the squad though! Especially the back and forth between Catcher and Chancery! And that headbutt… did not expect that from Chancery, but I’m glad it was her who did something like that! It’s nice to finally see her fully comfortable with her squadmates to show that part of her personality!!! Feels like this event, even though it’s been hard on them all, has cemented Firesong together so much more! The snippets of practice we’ve seen show them thinking as one in combat, and this exchange shows a level of personal comfort which will stand them in good stead going forward. Personally, I think Viv’s ‘accident’ has been the final part of forging Firesong into the unstoppable force we know they will become!!! Can’t wait to see the squad catch Viv up on the sponsorship and training cadre and their rank improvements. One thing, Bryce did you mean to say ‘neutral combat ability’ as opposed to ‘natural combat ability’? Either way, Viv has that in spades! She just needs to hone in on her max without anger. Or just get angry every fight. Yeah that latter seems more like Viv :o)
