Dad & Kai React to Miguel - Adorn

Comments

Funny, I didn’t clue into the Marvin sound on first listen, although yes I did pick up an old school vibe. But no question the Marvin thing is there (Sexual Healing), even the way Miguel pauses. - dad

I’ll save it for a Sunday morning coffee. Hmm, Americano or Latte? - dad

I can totally appreciate the challenging aspect of this track now that you point it out. A lot of singers would have made a mess of it. - dad

Great catch by dad when he said the melody was old school. I would bet money that this song was Marvin Gave inspired. Some of the melodies are so close to signature Marvin.

It’s interesting to hear you guys say this is laid back Miguel. To me this this is on of his more challenging songs vocal so I guess that’s where I find a lot of the interest… 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾please please react to the full album. This was my favorite Miguel project for a long time and I’m sure it would be a great listen. Definitely a Kade back wine and 🍃 feel

I Absolutely love this song. The Lyrics are beautiful and pull you into that magical rhythm. ✨️ 🖤

Sure Thing is definitely the best of the 3 imo, but I used to listen to that song on repeat! 😅❤️ Why don’t you guys react to a song with just one different letter in the title? Adore by Prince. It might just bring a tear to dad’s eye. 🥹

Coffee in the morning by Miguel

"Wolf" by Miguel is a vocal masterpiece

Hey Guys!! So First off!! I'm biting your line "It's very pleasing to the ear" I love it!! Please review him and Kendrick Lamar How many Drinks! Also, Talib Kweli's "Come Here" and Mos Def's "Ms. Fat Booty" I think you will enjoy these as well. While we're at it Nicolette Larson's Lotta Love!! Classics!! ✌🏾❤️🙏🏾

Angela Faison

Please Listen to “How many Drinks” next

Cher-rell

Its the lyrics for me... who wouldn't want to be adored n protected this way?? I know its Adorn but thats what makes it even cooler - like this is what real love could/should do: add the extras to life to make it more beautiful n special! ❤️ The dope ass beat is just the car we ride in along the way..

Felicia Wiggins

Yes, please listen to the album! It got me through my first year of college lol no skips

Raven

Kaleidoscope Dream is definitely one album I could listen to with no skips. Great musical artistry.

Lachaya Radcliff

I always thought "Adorn" was mid. Miguel's better singles are "How Many Drinks" and "Coffee in the Morning".

My mom is requesting Anna Mae by Natalie Cole. She loves her!

Jasmine Felton

Adorn is a classic

Loved your reaction and discussion! Your videos bring me so much joy❤️ I think It's time for you two to check out India Arie, ideally the song 'Ready for Love'!

That transition from 2000s to 2010s is definitely not something I am fully aware of, if at all. Yup, always more of a challenge to appreciate on an emotional level developments in music if you weren’t listening at the time. But I’m game to try! - dad

I do hear a bit of that Marvin Gaye sound, especially the melody and flow of his voice. We’ve been thinking of doing a full What’s Going On reaction. In fact, it was one of the very fist albums we condered doing but somehow haven’t got around to it yet - only know maybe three of his songs. - dad

The views are because it's caking music

Yes! I would love if you reacted to this album. I also consider it a classic. I also want to add I'm not sure how much you guys would appreciate it because you didn't see it's effects in real time. The transition from what r&b was in the 2000s to something like this in 2012. This sound was something so different back then. Vocals are a big thing in r&b and he still had great vocals but all the electrical guitar, genre mixing, and the modern vibe. It was everything. Kaleidoscope Dream and Channel Orange brought in the new era of r&b.

“Come Through and Chill” by Miguel ft. J. Cole. It a low-key sleeper track but a great listen💯

Coffee by Miguel

Desertbutterfly78

This song has a very Marvin Gaye sound to it. I highly recommend listening to Marvin Gaye’s what’s going on album. It’s considered the greatest album of all time by Rolling Stones magazine and I couldn’t agree more. It has a very strong message that definitely applies to modern day issues.

Anthony Mendoza

I like your analysis of the instrumentation. I tend to focus more on the lyrics, which imo is what makes this song great.

Kat

Yay! Finally! This was one of Miguel's biggest hits. Musically, it reminded so many people of Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing". There are mashups on YouTube. EDIT - An album review is being considered!? Oh my, ya'll are spoiling us! 😊
