Hope your day is going well, Tnulb. Call me crazy, replying to this comment of yours two years after the fact, but I don't think we gave an account of the Erykah/Mos Def concert way back when! It was my very first neo-soul or rap music concert, and a truly wonderful experience. We stood about 25 ft from the stage. Erykah's band was dressed all in white, sort of like white hoodies, pulled up over their heads - coordinated look that was pretty cool. She was dressed in a great outfit, sort of a take on late 60's/early 70's style. Her voice was great. She covered some tracks I knew but mostly ones I didn't but it didn't matter. There was some cool light effects going on - I particularly recall a curtain of light between herself and the audience that would zap whenever she put her hand through it. Mos Def was awesome, too. He started up with a brief sample from the first Jimi Hendrix album, which of course won me over right from the start. He was dressed in a free-flowing outfit that was very fitting given his music, twirling around on stage, most of the time with a broad smile on his face. The vibe from both of them was so warm and engaging. All n all a great show. I was down in Seattle for the show with Kai and his girl and a buddy of his. Afterwards we grabbed some street food before heading back to Vancouver. I felt so very fortunate to be able to take part in an experience like this with my own kid. Life can be good :)
