Dad Reacts to Busta Rhymes - Woo-Hah!! Got You All In Check

After this reaction do you think Gimme Some More would be a good Busta track to follow up with, or perhaps a different one that might be more my dad's taste?

Thanks for watching!

Dad Reacts to Busta Rhymes - Woo-Hah!! Got You All In Check

Busta has so many classics, it’s ridiculous, they are spread across all his albums and his style changes through time. Some to quote, pass the courvoisier part 2,what’s it gonna be feat. Janet Jackson, thank you, touch it.

christopher scott

Put your hands where my eyes can see and his verse in chris browns "look a t me now.is a better start for dad, buster is very energetic and a lot to view and listen to at the same time for a BR beginner. and listen

“ Put your hands where my eyes could see” and “Look at me now” w/ Chris Brown & Lil Wayne would be two good tracks of his to review. At the time, the first video was a big deal. I think because it was expensive and had a lot of references to Eddie Murphy’s Coming to America movie.

Jocie G

Yes to that Craig Mac track!

Jasmine Roussell

His look at me now verse is iconic & he has a really good track with Janet Jackson what’s it gonna be.

Jasmine Roussell

Actually what he's saying at the intro is "I make sure everything REMAINS raw". I LOVE Busta! He always brings the energy. I love his unique flow. He and Missy are linked for me as far as how they both brought unique styles to hip hop at the time that they came on the scene and stayed true to who they were instead of following the trends. Gimmie Some More and Break Ya Neck might be a bit much for Dad to try to take in w/o already having an affinity for him. I think Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See might be easier to digest. I also think him hearing his verse on Scenario might be the best place to start. Either way, I'm glad he's willing to give him another listen.

Can you please make your Patreon content available for download?

That's all interesting stuff for me to know. Thanks, Tee Dot.- Kai's dad

Check out "Touch It" as I was watching I thought to myself that the video had a lot going on that he may miss the sound. Lol

Tee Dot

So... Busta is an "Entertainer" and he is Jamaican and can be considered a pioneer of the Back Pack hip hop era... he is often pitched against Missy because of his presence, videos, comedy, wordplay, etc... which is interesting that you mentioned Wayne because Wayne idolizes Missy.

Tee Dot

First time actually watching on Patreon. I am subscribed but never come here. I'm always on YT. Excited for this episode AND I love seeing the DJ Screw poster. Native Houstonian! 🤘🏿🤘🏿

I thought I replied to this one. Must not have hit send. Busta is a lot to take on his own. I have always preferred his features although I love this song. Busta started out as part of the group Leaders of the New School. He has so many fabulous features. One of the most ironic being on the Chris Brown Look At Me Now track. His speed and flow is second to none. There is also his verse on the Craig Mack song Flavor in Ya Ear, which features Busta and a whole lot of legends related to Bad Boy Records like Biggie and LL Cool J. Hopefully some of these suggestions is enough to let your dad see his talent and appeal better.

I think that " I know what you want" : Busta ft. Mariah Carey & more would've been more his speed. Fun beat, love & respect for women tied up in some sexy.

Crystal

I think anything showcasing his speed would help him understand half of BR's appeal. To me, Busta is in the same category as Tech N9ne, and at least half of the identity there is speed. Just my 2 cents. Maybe show him Midwest choppers, or whichever variant of speedom has Busta on it.

Jeremy Moody

Busta is maybe a "you had to be there" kind of artist for most. His evolution from LofNS up to now is insane. He's had different styles throughout his time in the game. I'll bet you can play something like Touch It and Dad would probably not be able to tell it's Busta on the track. I'm glad he got some exposure to him though, and I'm hoping this is leading to some Tribe :)

David Feliciano

I have seen a lot of performers old and new Busta Rhymes is absolutely the best I have ever seen live.(so far I haven’t seen beyonce but I’m going to see her next week)I have paid to see him in concert 4 times and going to see him this summer with 50 cent. I don’t think anyone has had a longer active career in hip hop.

I understand WHY u showed Pops this first but if someone don’t KNOW about Busta already this might not be the best introduction to him… Dad seemed to not get it … I would’ve suggested showing him Scenario first then Break Your Neck or Look At Me Now then go back to the older stuff from the first album… maybe show him the remix to this w ODB as a bonus one time for the one time. Also I feel like ur pops would like the song FRIED CHICKEN w Nas and Busta off the Nas album that u should not say the album title of out loud 😂 Aight yall Til next time. Peace And Blessings.

Shawn Cannon

I definitely need to listen to some more Busta - I’d be doing any major rapper a disservice if I wasn’t willing to check out at least a second or third track. Thanks for your support - we’ve really been enjoying your comments! - Dad

Most of Busta's biggest songs are very energetic, so your dad might not love them considering his lukewarm reaction to "Woo Hah". Busta also has big mellow R&B crossovers with Janet and Mariah, although I'm not sure how good those songs have aged. I think your dad will like "Pass the courvoisier Pt II" which has that appealing Neptunes bounce to it. Or you could go directly to "Scenario" and thus introduce him to Tribe's music. On another note, you mentioned ODB in the video, and the "Woo Hah remix" with ODB is worth checking out. Those two have great chemistry and the video is crazy!

Youssef

Maybe dad will like Busta's verse on Tribe Called Quest's "Scenario"?

Robert Boyd

Yes, Gimme some more is great. Or Look over your shoulder from his latest album, which includes a Kendrick feature.

Theo Holmgren

Good question...I am actually suprised that he didn't like this. I was so excited for him to see such a different and dynamic rapper. Hmmmm. Well, if this didn't do it, nothing will, in my opinion. So I suggest going off script and doing "Look at Me Now" by Chris Brown (where he's featured). That way dad can see how he stacks up against Lil Wayne, a rapper he likes. That's the only thing I can think of. Woo Hah is Busta Rhymes, in a nutshell so if dad doesn't like this, all his other hits are useless. Aw man, I wasn't expecting this reaction. Oh well, this is how you narrow down what you like...I didn't always like stuff that everyone else did. Example, hated Master P when he first came out BUT came to appreciate his music Much later in life. So, who knows maybe Busta will grow on him? I also thought Kai did an excellent job of explaining Busta's impact at the time he released. The abstract painting analogy was perfect. Also, the description of how Busta's style and rapping is so unique. I also appreciate dad's comment at the very end was super important. Kai has done an amazing job with this journey. Love the show....STILL THE ONLY CONTENT I AM A PATRON OF!! (Still waiting for that Scarface, "Never Seen a Man Cry" release. Lol. I know you've already recorded it. *just giving ya'll a hard time*...but seriously 😃

Tnulb

Hell yeah! That or “break ya Neck”

Marco

I think put you hands where my eyes can see would be a good one
