Erykah Badu - On & On

Comments

Please do more Erykah Badu “Next Lifetime” “Green Eyes” “…And On” “Out my Mind, Just in Time” “back in the days” “Orange Moon” “Bag Lady (Radio Edit)” “Tyrone (Live)”

Marco

This is considered neo soul as well.

Carla Davis

Those are definitely great choices. He has to hear Maxwell. I suggest "Fortunate" or "This Woman's Work" since it's a Kate Bush cover and Dad might possibly know the original.

Sheldon Dobbins

Wonderful reaction…I’d love it if you guys could do Bag Lady from her Mama’s Gun album. And maybe some D’Angelo (specifically Lady) or Maxwell (specifically Ascension)

Elizabeth Kelly

Jill Scott is a name that keeps coming up among our supporters and I have resisted the temptation to listen to anything by her - saving her for a reaction :) I gotta say I am super excited to dive into neo-soul music in general. Thanks for the suggestions, Precious! - Kai’s dad

I like your interpretations, Dwight. This is just the third track with Erykah on it that I’ve heard and if the LP is that close to being a perfect album as you say then it’s absolutely a must for me to check out. Appreciate the recommendation! - Kai’s dad

This song is just 👌 ❤ Love Erykah! Unapologetically herself!

Ayeisha Perry-Smith

This album was for sure as close to a perfect album as you can get. I always felt like the line "If we were made in his image" towards the Christian belief that we all are made in the image of God, but they will not recognize us as being Gods (5% belief as you stated). Appreciate the breakdown of "under water/ $3 & 6 dimes ". I always thought it was the description of a pregnant woman. You're under water and the stomach area is a circle (360). Love it!

Dwight Buskey

Erykah Badu is in my top five favorite artist so I was extremely happy to see this reaction today. Baduizm brings back so many childhood memories and is an incredible album. I can not wait to see your reaction to Mama’s Gun. Kai is correct in saying Mama’s Gun is a near perfect album….especially Green eyes and Orange Moon!! If you’re loving Erykah Badu, I’m positive you will also love Jill Scott. They have similar style and substance and both have an appreciation for each other’s artistry. He Loves Me and Long Walk are my suggestions. Thank you for the great content you continue to put out!

Precious

That’s wonderful. I could definitely see how Erykah would be the perfect artist to help capture a sense of comfort in that situation. D’Angelo is wonderful too! Good suggestion Chavonna.

She was my first “favorite singer.” Because I was born in ‘91. I hadn’t listened to her in years but when I went to stay in Korea, I got so home sick I started to listen to Neo-Soul music like Mama’s Gun and Baduizm all of the time and it grounded me. Lifetime and Otherside of the Game are also just as good On and On. You guys should also check out D’Angelo (Brown Sugar and Untitled) and Musiq Soulchild.
