She was playing him, she knocked him off the top so that she could take her spot as queen pin. She's duplicitous and strategic but she's pretending to be meek.

Interesting conversation about “Testify” my take on it was she did love him but everything that happened in court was an act. Shes been here before, shes in the life, probably got him in the life but he gets caught. The reveal at the end saying she is the Kingpin makes me feel like she brought him in but she knows what to say and do to not be assumed as knowing. Lol my thoughts

2023-01-02 10:16:37 +0000 UTCI really enjoyed this album when it came out. I heard Go and Testify and thought the album must be good. I tend to think of Common as the “Good Times” of rap. He can talk about the worst conditions in the community and it will still feel like a “good vibe” due to the way he raps and his choice of music. My first exposure to Common was “Come Close” with Mary J. Blige, a classic. You guys should check that single out too. Also, I’m not sure if you have really listened to John Legend much but back when he released Neo-Soul music, like Anthony Hamilton, he released his first debut album called Get Lifted. That would be a great album to react to. Just like Amy Winehouse “Back to Black” can listen to it multiple times all the way through. It was also co-produced by Kanye West.
