I'm so sorry! I've run into a lot of problems with my computer and it has made exporting files and uploading files a terrible experience. It is currently uploading to YouTube (the uncut version) and hopefully it is done by this evening! Thank you so much for your patience.

Damn, I'm actually pretty surprised you disliked this project compared to his other LPs. For me it's definitely better than Section.80, UU, and even GKMC. Not sure how it stacks up to TPaB and DAMN. which I think are his strongest work, but on subsequent listens it's definitely up there. Probably the most divisive element will be the production. It's a lot like TPaB to me in that respect -- which, of course, is his worst selling album out of the "big 3" GKMC, TPaB and DAMN. Really unconventional for a rap album, sonically, with no real "club bangers" but once I got used to the unconventional sound tracks that didn't really do anything for me eventually clicked on re-listen. I think the strength of the message -- about focusing on yourself, getting mental help, and making art for yourself instead of others -- is definitely the most niche of the albums, even more than DAMN. and how much people resonate with it will depend on how much they can relate to those subjects. Me personally, I've spent half my adult life getting therapy and the other half wishing I could afford to get therapy so a lot of that hit me really hard. One thing I wanted to include my perspective on is the track "Auntie Diaries," since I'm a trans woman and can definitely relate to it. Kendrick quite intentionally uses outdated and incorrect language to refer to trans people on this track -- for example, the subject of the first half of the song, his uncle, transitions from female to male, so referring to him with female terms like "Auntie" throughout the song would generally be seen as transphobic -- but Kendrick's goal is to enter into that mindset of someone who's ignorant on the subject, to better reach out to them. I always laugh a little bit when people reacting to this stumble over themselves trying to find the right language to refer to trans people -- then use terms like "people who change their sex" which is medically inaccurate, or "transsexual" or "transvestite" or even, in one case, "shemale," all three of which are slurs. I laugh because it proves Kendrick's approach is effective; he might not be teaching y'all the correct terms, but what he is doing is speaking to people who don't really know anything about people like me, apart from vaguely remembered news segments or anti-trans propaganda, and he's getting into that headspace, including not knowing better than to use slurs and offensive terminology, as a way to get people to empathize. It's a really admirable song, though of course the use of the offensive terminology will be offensive for some progressives and triggering for many of the trans people who have been victims of the sustained harassment we tend to get nowadays.
