Added 2022-01-21 12:50:05 +0000 UTCHere we go friends! A few rules & reminders:
- Chapters will be dropping as Bryce completes them. That means anywhere from every 1 to 2 weeks on average, though sometimes waits may be longer.
- Recall that these are rough chapters, with no editing other than a single pass-through as Bryce writes.
- On a similar note, we are not asking for advice or corrections at this time. If Bryce wants feedback, we will certainly reach out, thank you!
That's it, so without further ado... Enjoy!

In first book mentions “She only just finished her own Intra-Schools.". So guessing twin to fight/meet in second year
2022-12-03 19:01:09 +0000 UTCI know we don't know the gramps very well yet, but i approve

2022-12-03 00:05:20 +0000 UTCI like how gramps is not a goober like rei’s parents. He’s actually just a doting grandpa who’s a corporate badass. I love juxtapositions like that

2022-05-10 03:18:06 +0000 UTCThat last line was fucking incredible. Phenomenal writing.
2022-04-27 20:07:39 +0000 UTCI like his grandfather. Forcing Rei to join them isn't the best idea and hopefully doesn't backfire on them.

2022-03-10 04:31:03 +0000 UTCUh huh. Nothing like blatant manipulation and strong arm tactics to really in-still trust and affection. Not going to massively back fire at all.

2022-02-23 12:52:09 +0000 UTCIt certainly seemed, from the Kamiya chapter in book 1, that Kamiya Hiroto was putting the majority of the blame for them giving Rei up onto the mother. But I definitely want to see that conversation. As a point of fact, one of the fan submissions for the recent Stormweaver Challenge that Bryce posted was based around the moment when Hiroto's demand for his son and daughter-in-law to be in his office the following day was seen by the son. It is not the discussion you are looking for, and it has not been produced by Bryce, but it is one fan's view of the situation: https://www.reddit.com/r/Warformed/comments/s8t2z9/community_challenge_short_matters_not_settled/

2022-01-25 21:53:58 +0000 UTCI know people are trying to guess why he thinks his name is connected but he knows it's connected to an ancient god of lightning. I would think if he did much searching with his name he would see Raiden the god of thunder and lightning in Japanese mythology and maybe draw some connection with that. It could also be because his name comes from Mortal Kombat but I'm sure they are on MK115 by now.

2022-01-24 03:45:26 +0000 UTCFor giving Reidon up? Yes I do. But between mom and dad finding out that the son they gave way suddenly is a CAD User? Not sure they followed him that closely. Think of what Grandpa was able to do. Now think what they could have done to stop him from getting into Galens. The ease Grandpa got a private meeting with Guest when they previously had no ties to the school at all. And while Grandpa didn't want to exert his full presence, Jasper had a number of ideas that Grandpa shot down. His parents could have made sure he didn't go anywhere with that kind of power. Or a fraction of it. Rei started in the bottom of the barrel. His parents probably rarely think of him. Much to Reidon's benefit for now

2022-01-22 22:31:48 +0000 UTCThe written Japanese language has several character sets (Hiragana, Katagana, Kanji and Romanji), most of which use a single character to define what we would call a syllable (Romanji is the exception, which uses standard Western alphabet characters, i.e. R, e, i, d, o, and n, and is more of a guide for pronunciation and a halfway step for communication, as opposed to being something a native Japanese person would usually use. Those character sets are split up into phoneme groups. Without going into pages of explanation that would probably even confuse me, the best way I can think to describe a phoneme group is that the contents are like puzzle pieces that can fit together more easily than others... like Tetris shapes that are complimentary, as opposed to awkward shapes that don't fit well together. Most Japanese family names (at least the old ones) use characters/syllables from within a single phoneme group, and there is a "thing" among a lot of traditional Japanese families, where they will try to come up with first names made up of syllables from that same phoneme group, so that the whole name is put together harmoniously. That is one of the reasons why there are often 2 or 3 character groupings that describe specific names, because two people with the same name might use different characters to write their name, so that their first name is made up of characters from the same phonemic group as their family name. In the context of the meeting, what it means is that Rei knows the different combinations of characters that can be used to make up "Reidon", and he has realized that one of those character combinations is from the same phonemic group as one of the character combinations for "Kamiya". It is not a definitive proof of paternity, obviously, but given the lack of information he has about his parents, it is one of those "wow, that is quite a coincidence" moments that we often dismiss in real life.

2022-01-22 13:47:33 +0000 UTCTwins, or the sister might be a year or two older than Rei. Personally, I think they will turn out to be twins or she is a year older than Rei, because she is the most obvious antagonist for Rei during the arc that culminates in his inevitable appearance at the Inter-systems, which should be at the end of Rei's second year (or maybe this year, if he gets a rare invitation).

2022-01-22 13:37:43 +0000 UTCDid it say it without saying it? It explicitly said that his parents were his daughter and son-in-law. They didn't use the word "grandpa", but it still seemed pretty... on the nose.

2022-01-22 07:15:04 +0000 UTCSounds like it, Have you ever seen the Movie Twins? One came out perfectly healthy, while the other fragile and with an illness that would take a lot of time and support. Way to much work for what sound like a complete succubus of a mother and a father with no spine or dignity.

2022-01-22 04:30:35 +0000 UTCIn the first book Rei mentions that his name is based on the name of a Japanese god of thunder/ lightning. It is a bit of a stretch, but I suppose if you've gone all your life not knowing your history you might research what you do know. (Insert shrug here...)

2022-01-22 03:21:53 +0000 UTCAlso, I know nothing about Japanese or how the language works so can someone explain to me how he took Kamiya and Reidon and guesstimated that they were possibly related to me they sound nothing alike?

2022-01-22 02:59:21 +0000 UTCI get that its being said that its his Grandfather without actually saying it and he is trying be clever about it but its still frustrating because technically it still leaves room for interpretation. Also, does Reidon have a twin sister?

2022-01-22 02:57:22 +0000 UTCThat was amazing, I love Grandpa. I only wish that we would've seen the Uncle conversation too.

2022-01-21 18:24:14 +0000 UTCI feel Slightly vindicated with this chapter. Grandpa is right few offers will be given to Rei now. No company is burning down their house to start with. Which leaves only the 4 competitors that Jasper mentioned. Though it's doubtful anything will come until his second year. Sectionals need to be flawless and his CAD needs to be in the Bs before he sees another offer. Which should put Reidon on edge. But Jasper is right. Depending on the other offers and what's in theirs they still do have a shot. The ranks just get harder and he does need things to continue advancing
