Kitsune's Curse

Ren couldn't believe what had just happened to him. The changes in his body felt real, and the soft voices of the kitsune around him made his body tremble. He tried to speak, but his voice sounded strangely higher, softer.

"This must be a nightmare" Ren thought, However, when he tried to pinch himself, the resulting pain confirmed it was all real

The kitsune around him seemed to smile in amusement, One of them stepped forward, She had long snow-white hair, with nine tails waving gracefully behind her

"I am Yae, the guardian of this shrine" she said, her voice calm but full of authority

"You reckless human, You have touched the Soul Gem without permission, It is a sacred object of the kitsune, Now, you have become one of us, Your body is the body of a kitsune, and your soul is bound to this shrine forever"

"I didn't mean to break anything! I was just looking for shelter from the storm. Please, return me to my original form!" Ren shook his head

Yae smiled faintly

"You don't understand, This isn't just about the body. You are now part of this world, and this change cannot be undone, However…”

She moved closer, reaching out to touch Ren’s face

“…if you want to survive in this world, you must learn to be a true kitsune”

The first days as a kitsune were torture for Ren. He had to adjust to his new body that was much smaller and lighter. His fox ears were sensitive to every sound, and his new tail

Under Yae’s guidance, Ren began to learn the basics of life as a kitsune, Yae taught him how to use illusions to hide his ears and tail, how to hunt using his new instincts, and even how to use the magical energy that now flowed through him

However, the training was not easy, Ren often failed to control the illusions, causing his ears to suddenly appear in front of humans passing by the forest, his tail often getting caught in bushes, making the other kitsune laugh

“Patience” Yae said one night, as Ren sat by the pond, frustrated after failing to control his magic again

“Being a kitsune is an art. You have potential, but you're too hasty."

Ren stared at his reflection in the water. His face was now that of a young girl with golden blonde hair that gleamed in the moonlight. His eyes, once brown, were now green with a hint of yellow around them.

“I didn't ask for this" he muttered

“I just want to go back to my normal life"

“Normal?” Yae chuckled.

“What do you consider normal, human? A boring life with no purpose? Now you have power, beauty, and immortality, You just need to accept your new destiny"

Ren did not answer, Ren wanted to get out of here, he regretted stealing from this damn temple

Over time, Ren began to master his new powers, he learned to create small fireballs in his palms and use them to light the way at night, He also began to enjoy the ability to transform, although at first he only changed into a small fox form to avoid the attention of other kitsune

However, not everything went smoothly, There were nights where he felt a strange urge in his body, an urge that he found difficult to explain, His body felt hotter than usual, and he felt as if something was flowing in his blood, something foreign but alluring

Yae, who seemed to know what was happening, only smiled mysteriously

"That's part of being a kitsune, We are creatures of passion and power. You will understand everything in time" Yae said with a smile

Ren wanted to ask further, but Yae's gaze made him hold back, There was something about her, a power that was both frightening and alluring

That night, Ren woke up in his room at the temple with his body feeling lighter than usual, he stared at the full moon outside the window, feeling the energy flowing through him

“It's about time” Yae's soft voice came from outside
