John did serve in the Army Reserves for a short time. I read his book but don't remember the details.

One of my faves of the band, and perhaps their most hard-hitting. I also like the long, plaintive cover of Heard it Thru the Grapevine. Longer songs won particular favor amongst discerning ears at the time, and we wee lads felt we were well on our way, with such a profusive plethora of music of the first water pouring out as from waterfalls, guiding our way.

That was the normal length for songs on AM radio in those days. Songs that were 4 minutes or longer just never got airplay. One of the reasons The Boxtops' song "The Letter" got so much airplay early on was that it was just under 2 minutes long.

One of my favorite CCR songs! Glad you're reacting to this.
