2025-01-09 20:43:10 +0000 UTCOne thing you would never know and that you'll likely find quite shocking is that Fourth Rendez-Vous had a video... that was PLAYED ON M-TV back when this came out. Sounds completely bizarre, but completely true.

2024-12-17 03:41:11 +0000 UTCSorry for the very slow reply. For me, Rendez-Vous and Equinoxe are firmly in my personal top 3, and at present I would also include Oxygene 7-13, which maybe just for their freshness I have come to prefer over the original 1-6, although I would guess that won't be a majority sentiment. Jarre has created some wildly different albums, most recently Oxymore in 2022 (which by the way sounds nothing at all like Oxygene and is unrelated to it) and while all those other albums may not be my personal top choices at this time, they're certainly interesting, and you can bet many of them will be somebody's favourite.

2024-12-16 23:10:07 +0000 UTCSecond Rendezvous brings back memories from my youth, of being glued to the TV watching him perform live at the Docklands in London. I'm sure you'd be able to find some of it on YouTube somewhere. It was amazing.

2024-12-15 11:34:04 +0000 UTCOne of my favorite albums by Jarre. The last Rendez-Vous is an absolute mater piece. It was dedicated to the astronaut, Ronald E. McNair, who was going to play this piece in space but sadly lost his life during the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster.

2024-12-14 19:20:49 +0000 UTCIn 1988, I attended the International Pyromusical Festival, here, in Montreal. It was the 1st time that Germany was participating, and they finished their presentation with "Rendez-vous 4", the fireworks exploding in perfect sync with the music. To this day, it's one of the most impressive show I've had the opportunity to watch. Awesome!

2024-12-14 12:48:51 +0000 UTCI highly recommend Polytechnique, by Denis Villeneuve. It's been 35 years since this terrible event, and the movie is a hard, profound and respectful commemoration of this tragedy.

2024-12-14 12:46:04 +0000 UTCThanks John! What would the other two be in your top 3?

2024-12-13 00:00:50 +0000 UTCSomething about the Third Rendez-Vous (or third meeting...). His live shows, live events you may call them, most times included a real orchestra, indeed. But this particular piece, he used to play on a a Light Organ. Light Organ? Yes, light as in bright...Still don't get the idea? Hehe. Find a live show on YT and you understand. Enjoy :)

2024-12-10 03:37:31 +0000 UTCThis album is maybe the best work ever done by anyone. Why? A long time ago, when the only AC in a car was open or closed windows, we were driving through Italy, and it was freaking hot. Outside, and even more in the car. 4 adults and a six-minth old toddler. Who had his first tooth wanting to break through. That poor boy was constantly crying. Really loud and terrible! This easily was the worst day by far in his short life so far. Putting on this record in the car, he fall asleep so fast, and stays like this until we arrived two hours later. Just ni case we let that album run repeatedly. Soooo, if you ever have a toddler crying his wits out, in a car or outside, try this record ;-)

2024-12-10 03:17:46 +0000 UTCa few months ago, Brian May from Queen played with Jarre the Second Rendez-Vous on Bratislava... and it was EPIC

2024-12-09 20:49:34 +0000 UTCI've been looking forward a lot to this one on here, and it didn't disappoint. To me, if I were to rate all of JMJ's albums, and I've listened to most of them, this one would absolutely be in my top three. I have no idea why its not on Spotify; that's crazy. It's also interesting that you immediately associated Fourth Rendez-Vous with sport: One of the UK's TV broadcasters later used that theme as part of their football (soccer) coverage. And I love the bugs analogy on 5.3; I don't think I'll hear that any other way now. By the way, that soft section before the final part of Second Rendez-Vous largely repeats the melody from First Rendez-Vous. Its not the kind of thing most people would notice on a first listen though. A highly enjoyable hour here, thank you as always!

2024-12-06 23:15:31 +0000 UTCMy favorite track was the 5th. I like the chaotic intensity. And the least pretty was the popditty (agreement there:)). But the whole album is very nice 2me ears

2024-12-06 19:43:13 +0000 UTCahhh, OK! While this was a first listen to the entire album for me, I know Second Rendez-Vous, having seen JMJ live in 2018 and having watched several of his YouTube streamed appearances. I believe he doesn’t use the laser harp for that piece, focusing instead on his piece The Time Machine, which he played at the very end of the Olympics Closing Ceremonies this summer. If you’re interested, here is a fan recording of that laser harp performance where you can really see JMJ playing the laser harp, due to the angle of the fan’s seat, compared to what the official broadcast showed. JMJ opened the Olympics Closing Ceremonies. Several electronic DJs followed after him, but then returned to JMJ to close it out He broke out the laser harp for the second part, which you can view here: https://youtu.be/JLPGwwMKgWM?si=VJslYyR592Z_Y9eh
