"Patron's Choice" SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED 2 Suggestion Thread
Added 2022-01-19 13:40:16 +0000 UTCHey all! The time has returned for you all to suggest speedruns that will be covered in a future video! Right now the timeline for the channel is looking like this: next video is Dark Souls III, then there will be another SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED covering (most likely) Demon's Souls, and somewhere in-between there'll likely be the Speedrunning & You video as well. These three videos are already planned out and mapped out for the channel and each is in production to a certain degree. This will likely carry us through either the end of February or March. After these videos, then the plan is to cover whatever run is chosen by you all through this event. The polling process for this will last around two weeks: one week for suggestions, one week for everyone to vote.
A couple notes/rules:
1. The list is starting as empty. Any runs that were a part of the last poll will not be a part of the poll by default.
2. Any runs suggested must be on speedrun.com and have its own leaderboard/category.
3. The run can be no longer than one hour in length.
4. Everyone gets TWO suggestions! If you participated in the previous poll and still would like to submit the same runs, you are more than welcome to do that.
5. You cannot submit a run for a game that has been previously covered on the channel (or for a game that already has a video in production). The full list of blacklisted games are as follows:
Bloodborne
Dark Souls
Dark Souls II
Dark Souls III
DEATHLOOP
Demon's Souls
Dishonored
Dishonored 2
DOOM (2016)
DOOM Eternal
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Fallout
Fallout 2
Fallout 3
Fallout: New Vegas
Fallout 4
Fallout 4 VR
HITMAN (2016)
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Mirror's Edge
The Outer Worlds
Prey (2017)
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom
Stardew Valley
Titanfall 2
Untitled Goose Game
That's it! Suggestions will be open for one week after this post going live, then I'll make the poll with all the options and let that run for one week as well before closing the poll and beginning to make the video! Looking forward to seeing everyone's suggestions!

Glad I thought of this before the deadline passed; I'd love to see a speedrun of Ape Escape covered! It has a bunch of great speed tech, both glitch based and non-glitch based, and has a decent number of pauses for downtime in the run to explain more complicated concepts. Although it doesn't matter for selecting a good video topic, the game also has a great feeling of nostalgia for me as it's the first video game I ever played in my entire life!

2022-01-23 06:00:12 +0000 UTCWow what a pull! Yeah, I was watching that run live! Mokay and I met at ESA 2019 and hung out for a lot of it (along with JackDraz)! They both attended AGDQ 2020 as well and we got to hang out a bit more there, but not as much since that was a much busier week for me than ESA was. Whenever I see either of them streaming I try to pop in and say hello (which isn't often since I rarely watch Twitch). I just so happened to pop into Mokay's stream a little over two years ago while he was mid-run, which ended up being the record. This is a super fun run to watch in my opinion, and I actually got to watch Mokay perform it live with Jack commentating the morning after I met them at ESA. If you check out the VOD from that event (https://youtu.be/5jxiAZm6jyY) I'm sitting on the far right, right behind the two of them. This was relatively early in the morning, and VERY early in the morning for someone who had just flown to Sweden from Chicago two days prior. PLUS some of us may or may not have been up VERY late and drinking (that's when I met Mokay and Jack), and some of us may have been very hungover while sitting behind Mokay and Jack and watching the run (namely me).

2022-01-21 15:58:16 +0000 UTCCovering the speedrun of Horizon: Zero Dawn would be amazing, but seeing as the current fastest run is about 1h 37m it would be out of the list. I think Subnautica would be a good game to cover. Fastest current run is a bit over 30 minutes. Lots of interesting skips, and a few sequence breaks as well.

2022-01-21 03:55:51 +0000 UTCHow about Pikmin? Not the most intense run, but I noticed the WR holder giving you a shoutout @34:16. Were you watching live?

2022-01-20 13:28:38 +0000 UTCOne game of the Gothic series would be awesome! The runs got an interesting mix of game mechanics and glitches. I'd love to see either Gothic 1 or Gothic 2 Night of the Raven

2022-01-19 17:07:15 +0000 UTCMy two are Super Mario Odyssey Any% and Hollow Knight Any% (True Ending if 1h 4m is okay)

2022-01-19 17:02:34 +0000 UTCNioh's top three runners for any% have clocked under an hour (Nioh 2's campaign unfortunately does not) and that game's combat system can be hilariously broken. I've not played Outer Wilds (NOT the outer worlds) but it seems to have a *bunch* of interesting categories that all fit the time reqs. So that's my two: Nioh and Outer Wilds

2022-01-19 14:45:16 +0000 UTCSonic 06. The run is only a little over 36 minutes, but the video would probably over an hour as tomato would have to pause every other frame to explain a new glitch in this broken mess of a game.
