A sweater for Colson - Paint Process

Once the sketch, colors, and values are figured out, I merge all the layers (background stays a separate layer from figure) and just start painting directly onto my merged layer. Near the end I was feeling like something was missing and the image felt unbalanced, so I added that chair with the clothes draped over it, in front of him. I think it helped. Decided to keep the brushstrokes loose for the background, and not detail everything as it kinda gives an out of focus effect without blurring. Plus I think the rough brush strokes are pretty :B
