Day 8 in LA

I'm in LA this week (and five more days) trying to convince industry people they should invest (energy, money, time) in some capacity in the record. The amount I've learned in the last month about what it takes to gain traction in music has been INSANE. I think it's cause I come from an early Youtube background where, with enough energy, it really felt like you could gain a little momentum, just on the merit of something!

I'm SUPER ENJOYING learning about all the behind the scenes of the music industry and spotify. It's fascinating to learn about the internal workings of everything that has to happen between the creation of a song, and it ending up on a spotify curated playlist (or radio, whatever). Turns out it's a lot more than just having a cool song haha. Anyway, like I said it's super satisfying to learn about the all the behind the scenes. As an independent artist, it’s just…a lot…to try and compete in a major label industry. At the same time I'm thinking, “Wow? Me? Really? Could this be a thing?” and simultaneously i’m hit by, “How will I possibly get the funds to make all this happen…”, haha. It's this tension between wanting to be, "reasonable”, and wanting to do everything I can for something I believe in.

Anyway it's a LOT. I'm super grateful to be out here, super grateful for you all, the support coming from patreon is going directly into the success of this record. Here's a picture from me a few weeks ago when I was in Columbus, OH to see lorde! Wish me luck!
