MORBIUS MOVIE. They knowed?

About this illustration: the history of creation, what is the result, and what angered me about the corporation's policy

In the fall of 2021, I took part in a poster open brief contest for the movie Morbius from SONY with a prize of $2000 to each of the 5 winners. I found out about this brief from the Russian division of the company on Instagram. I carefully acquainted the brief and got to work.

The illustration is made in accordance with the brief: the internal conflict between the healer and the murder is shown, the hero learns his supernatural powers. The work is done in dark, saturated colors, playing on the contrast of blue and orange. I was also inspired by comic book artists Todd McFarlane, John Ramita Jr., Mark Bagley.

The canvas size is 8100x12000 pixels 300dpi. In the process, I realized that my 2012 laptop does not cope the file, and each stroke loads for 30 seconds. Through the gnashing of teeth, halfway through work, I decided that I needed another laptop, otherwise I would fuck up, and I just wouldn't have time. I asked to borrow from classmates and Instagram followers, found out which laptops my relatives had, looked at laptops for rent, and whether there was a coworking with appliances. As a result, I went to the radio market, and delivered operatives, an additional hard drive. I had to invest $46

I finished my work perfectly on an updated laptop, I didn't sleep at night to meet the deadline. I am ready to post the work I am confident in, and mentally imagine how I will spend my $2000

But as if not so! I found the Official Rules, and I read them to make sure that I'm doing everything right (and I should have done it earlier).

I find in the text the work of citizens of which countries are not taken into account in the competition. Russia was on the list of countries. Russian artists cannot win according to the rules of the competition. I get angry and in shock, but still send the work to the competition.
