Informal Sunday #11: It's still Sunday somewhere
Added 2025-08-18 03:51:33 +0000 UTCHey everyone, meant to get this out earlier, but my internet was down.
Now, the meat and potatoes, what are we going over today?
Two main things: Power Progression/scaling, and potential for a semi-regular Q&A
But lets not get ahead of ourselves
Power Progression
So, this may shock you all, but Universe’s End is in fact, a Progression Fantasy.
I know, shocked gasps all around.
Jokes aside, I wanted to use this as a bit of just talking about my thoughts on the subject, as while Sunday Updates (that at this point might me more regularly appearing on days that AREN’T Sunday) are typically used for updates, its also a chance to splurge a bit of my thoughts as a writer on the matter that you guys as readers might not always be privy to from other series/authors.
So, Power Progression you're asking. To break it down, I have 'benchmarks' for power scaling/power level if you will.
T1: A very athletic human, any someone who actively trains will be slightly above pro athlete level
T2-T6: "Superhuman superhero" You can think of T2 as your Captain America or Winter Solider, with a T6 being in the realm of a Spiderman who isn't holding back. It's not that cut and dry because magic exists, but you get the idea.
T7-T8: Building/City block. This is the point where Ascenders (Honestly I need a better term given it feels like a direct rip from PoA when I say ascenders, but that will probably be a casual plot point in the future) can start causing some pretty significant devastation. Rory is a great example with Dragon's Fall, a single dragon's fall could devastate small city blocks potentially. T8 the main difference is where Rory needs to be actively throwing out a big hit (Dragon's Fall) to do that much damage, T8 it becomes much more casual, with the new heavy hitters being things like the locked up Paradox Bomb (Name still pending)
T9-14: Sub Planetary levels: (T9) City level, (T10) Single Mountain, T(11) Large mountain chain, (T12) Massive Island/Island Chain, (T13) Country, (T14) Continental
VERY important note: These "scales" are based off of OUR universe sized objects. Just because a T14 has the sort of power to erase entire continents, does NOT mean that at that point in the story thats what will be directly happening as 1. Planets such as Aelia are reinforced through their own ascensions/magic and 2. Cosmic scales are just a LOT larger on average.
T15: Planetary. T15 being Planetary was actually always going to be the first "major" benchmark, as its when someone leaves behind the Mortal tier. Basically, not just are immortals immortal, but the thematic idea is that being "Above" mortals they have the power to casually bust planets (But see the above important note for why they may or may not actually flex that power)
T20: Solar Systems
T30: Galaxies
T35: Galactic Super-clusters
T40: Universes
T42: Universal Clusters
T43+: At this point, traditional power progression/scaling goes out the window, as mere afterthoughts would be enough to wipe out entire universal clusters. Instead, power scaling reaches into the world of Law Scaling. The closer one is to T50, they more their existence transcends cause and effect or other limiting factors. If you are T48 and you're fighting someone T47, you are "closer" to your existence being an immutable, thus your "Law" scaling over rides the T47, as otherwise past the Totality tier everyone may as well be effectively True Immortals if not for Law Scaling.
T50 (+?): True Immortal. At tier 50, a True Immortal's existence becomes even more fundamental then even the most 'fundamental' aspects of reality, they are essentially self contained universe's in themselves, an aspect of infinity. At this point "Asymptotic Convergence" is achieved, where other 'infinite' concepts are restricted. I.E a Tyrant Beast, known for having infinite in every attribute aside from Vitality (which itself is a psuedo-attribute) and Cognition will see their attributes restricted from that infinity to instead just a big fuck off large number. This is why Tyrant Beasts can only be killed by T50s, no exceptions.
Anyway, that's sort of a brief dive into some of the general "Thoughts" that go into how I tentatively view details regarding the tiers (also some proof that yes, I have already thought that far out and the numbers weren't picked at random)
That said, as with all notes or behind the scenes stuff, everything here is cautiously canon, meaning if I need to at any point I will retcon stuff here if the need should arise.
Now, for the other reason for this post
Q&A Possibility
So, I was thinking of something fun I could do for my patreon subs as another way of showing my gratitude for you all, as I can't always drop notes (Can't drop notes on stuff that would be spoilers after all) and their is only so many behind-the-scenes or sunday updates I can do if I don't have anything interesting to say for that week.
Therefore, I'm considering offering a Q&A bonus. At some point during the month I'll drop a Q&A post where you can ask any and every question on your mind. "What's Rory's favorite color" "Does Zoey pick her nose" "What characters can you say will 100% survive to the end? (Hey I can answer this one right now: Rory)"
Any question is allowed. Now, I will state my right to simply not answer some questions, in which case you will receive a N/A, but you can still ask any question (Hell I'll even take questions that aren't necessarily directly relevant to the story. Want to ask me my favorite book? Go for it. Favorite sports team? I'll allow it (The Bulls btw))
My initial thoughts on the matter is that Immortal Tier subs will get 1 question a month, Totality will get 2, and True Immortals will get 3. So, if you guys are interested, just drop a comment or w/e, or if you think its a dumb idea I'll take that as well. If its something you guys find yourself uninterested in, what would be the point of giving you something you don't want?
Well, that's all for the week! I've said this elsewhere, but speakings strictly on the current chapter, we've got about a month or so left of chapters before I take a one week break.
Anyway, see you all Tuesday!
