VERSION 4.0 PRE-RELEASE!!!

Today's the day folks.

You can now play 4.0 for real! This pre-release is basically identical (minus a few bugfixes, if applicable) to the open beta which will be available publicly in a few weeks time.

I know I say this a lot, but the 'biggest update of all time' applies more than ever, with more than a 1k line increase (from 3.3) and huge amounts of new content and improvements. Kerstyn and I keep outdoing ourselves each time lel.

Contains the IFD Lydia Patch, No To Nocturnal Patch, GYH Patch, HoH Quest Expansion, Spell Toggle Patch, Animation Framework Patch, among all the other patches already there beforehand.

These are virtually the same as the patches I posted earlier - I still recommend you update though for convenience sake.

(Quick disclaimer: Kerstyn got new voice-acting equipment due to an unfortunate accident, so you may notice a disparity between some of her dialogue lines (the old ones vs the new ones). An audio rework is being worked on and will be released after 4.0's official release.

KNOWN ISSUES // FUTURE IMPROVEMENTS (as of SDA 4.0.0 Pre-Release 03 SE):

- I am going to remove the friendship dialogue cooldown. The intention was to pace out the friendship better and prevent speedruns, but there are better ways to do this. I do not want to gate the pace at which players play their game. Also a huge amount of content is gated behind friendship, and I do not want Serana to essentially be mute or players to miss out on awesome questline commentary. -- FIXED (use Pre-Release 02 link) --

- The Friendship variable should already have been set if the player completed the Beyond Death quest, even if they did not wait 7 days with Serana or continued through all her dialogue options. This is the case installing SDA mid-game so this toggle is intended. -- FIXED (use Pre-Release 02 link) --

- Gift dialogue cooldown is buggy. -- FIXED (use Pre-Release 02 link) --

- Daedric Quest commentary is currently bugged. -- FIXED (use Pre-Release 02 link) --

- Serana's hood animations currently don't play even with FNIS. -- FIXED (use Pre-Release 02 link) --

- SDA Needs a FOMOD for the Animation Framework Support, SDA Patch Hub FOMOD needs to be updated with new mod patches. -- DONE (use patch hub link) --

- Serana's commentary on vanilla Lydia via Drinking Buddies still persists while using the IFD Patch -- DONE (use 1.2 link) --

- Fixed missing commentary when arriving at the castle for the first time with IFD patch (use 1.3 link)

- The Twilight Princess Armor and Valerica Convo use an out-of-context dancing animation for one of their dialogue topics respectively. This will be removed.

- The Twilight Princess Armor commentary will now trigger by regular dialogue and not a blocking greet, as to make it uniform with the rest of SDA's mod armor commentary. Also there was a weird bug with GYH which prevented the commentary from firing for some reason.

- Line frequency of "it would be nice to see the courtyard again" reduced

- SKSE Fallbacking Script Improvements

- Improvements to trigger distance of Serana and Sybille Banter. Previously there was no distance requirement so the conversation could be started even if Serana and Sybille were not near each other.

- SDA Spell Toggle still doesn't have toggles for the rest of Serana's spells, like drain life, and the shock+ice ones.

- Even if you heed Serana's request in refusing to participate in Boethiah's ritual, she will end up commenting to you at the end of the quest as if you just did.

Known limitation of equipping items on NPCs, even with other mods. I'll look into this eventually.

Following on from a post relating to the outfit manager on Nexus, I checked in the latest V4.0 pre-release and found that, for me at least, Serana doesn't benefit from the enchantments on things given to her via the outfit manager. She does equip the items, but the enchantments aren't applied. It doesn't make any difference if it's clothing, jewellery or armour, If I take the items back and then hand them back to her via the "I want to trade some things..." dialogue, she equips them again and the enchantments are then applied.

Starting a new game fixed it for me

It works fine for me and I use Queen of the Damned. Seeing as this isn't a confirmed bug yet, please report this in #sda-troubleshooting in the Discord channel. Thanks!

It's not working all around, she's not summoning her gargoyle, her bat cloud isn't showing and she isn't using her spells besides her vanilla ice spike.

What exactly is the issue?

Not compatible. Use the OStim patch provided here instead.

I have a question. I noticed there is an animation framework patch. I use OpenSex is the patch in the SDA Patch Hub still compatible? In general is the SDA Patch Hub compatible with the new pre-release?

Thanks for pointing this out. I'll take a look. Edit: Confirmed this as a bug. Will be fixed in the next pre-release, if not, then the open beta.

Ran into an issue in the Boethia's Calling quest. Even if I tell Serana that I am not going to sacrifice anyone which ends the quest, Serana will immediately speak afterwards as if I had just completed the quest "Now that that's done hate to tell you that you are Boethia's slave forever" (Might not be exact line but I am sure you know the reference) I've tried reloading saves but she always responds as if I had just completed the entire quest and got the Ebony Mail. For reference I am on Pre-Release 03. Edit: Oh and this is a completely new save since I downloaded the Pre-Release.

Please make sure you're exactly typing the name, and you're browsing the WIP mods section! If you can click on it on your web browser and it appears, then it's available as a mod on Bethesda.net.

Is Serana/Adopted HF children dialogue included in this update?

Damn, feeling pretty lucky that I haven't gotten a corrupted save or experienced any issues from loading this onto an existing save. I feel bad for the ones who have.

After installing the Ostim NG animation framework, animated romance scenes do appear to be triggered correctly. However, there appears to be an issue with, specifically, the animated kiss scene. This animation loops endlessly and can not be manually halted (unless stopping all ostim threads through the mods MCM menu). It is possible this is more of an Ostim NG bug than a SDA bug, but it may be worth investigating just in case.
