Added 2022-10-11 21:32:18 +0000 UTCSo there's one more week of OMA's Kickstarter for playmats and prints with our art on them, and in honor of that, I've asked Phil to doodle some Magic themed stuff for me to spread around social media and hopefully get some eyeballs on the campaign. I've posted it here because I don't want you folks to feel left out!
Some background: When we first heard the name "Mishra" there was no context for the character. Well, maybe a little. I was told to paint "Urza's Factory" a series of four variants. I think we actually did know that Mishra and Urza were wizards, and that Urza was the "good" one. So I painted a happy tree factory. Something Santa's elves would work in, possibly. But the name...got switched at publication, which made me think "Well, I guess Mishra is an evil Keebler Elf now."
And Mishra, who was later revealed to be a super-cool badass evil wizard edgelord guy, is forever an evil Keebler elf wizard in our personal headcanon. Because of ancient and stupid in-house jokes that we will never relinquish.
