2023-10-26 02:38:09 +0000 UTCYeah, I definitely agree, I’m fully on board with romance, but anything beyond a crush from Arslan feels somewhat out of sorts given that he’s still technically 13 going on fourteen. I will also say, piggy backing, but it does seem like you took the point that physical features had been put by the wayside to sort of lump them all in here at once, which feels odd.

Jaune feels so much mentally (and physically) older than Arslan atm so reading those sections felt more uncomfortable ngl. With Orr (even if they might be serious idk), they both went through a life threatening event, theyve earned each other’s respect and theyre at least closer mentally, making it feel a little more… equal? Idk

Wonderful chapter, always love it when Jaune has some nice moments with the people he loves. I think you wrote the romance parts nicely but (and maybe its just me) it feels a little forced, like they’d be better as friends

Your lack of experience writing Romance could actually be beneficial, because that can translate into the characters lack of experience in relationships.

2023-10-22 02:12:15 +0000 UTCYes the girls train and I have some reasoning for this, see in the official lore of RWBY we learn that their are frontier towns, settlements and even nomadic peoples. Now its canon adjacent thanks to the RWBY D&D campaing I believe but we also know that Aura attracts Grimm so that stands to reason that for these settlements and nomadic groups to survive there must be a least a militia or they must have an on hand mercernary group or security force.

Hinata really doesn't understand what she's doing though because she's going to cause her student to have a one-sided crush that Jaune doesn't understand yet. To me the woman with the best chance of him noticing her in that way is Orr and I'm on board with that.

A nice winding down from the tension of the last two chapters, and if Hinata’s success here means anything, som healing for Hella’s family. I liked the distinction of “family, not Kutsuki,” by the way. Adds some depth to their history without even telling us much. Really curious what this “Jason” figure did, now. Maybe since Jaune can enter dreams, he might wander into a certain grandmother’s? It’s been a while since that’s had relevance. The romance here was tastefully done. It definitely feels more like attraction rather than actual feelings, so I’d say that’s a good start considering they aren’t very close. Given how awkward they are, however, I don’t imagine it’ll be a short road. I wasn’t aware that the other kids trained? Sure, it was mentioned that Jaune often had them aid in his evasion training, but this is a bit out of the blue, though I guess that’s to be expected when you have two top-shelf Hunters as your parents. Still, I’d really like to see that expounded upon, or at least mentioned a bit more. If anything else, it’s another thing that Jaune can bond with his family over, giving his sisters tips on how to improve and stuff. Overall, a fantastic read to cap off the week. Keep doing what you do!
