Edges, Glazing and Inventing Shape Design

This demo is addressing a few questions from you all, it discusses some things we have covered in other lessons but it is always good too see a recap. Also, a lot of reinterpretation of what I remember from this demo that was done from life for a workshop.

Enjoy! Comment and enter the discussion, I would love to hear from you.

Thank you Michael

I use it throughout the entire process once the first day is dry. So gamsol or turpentine and then the medium. This is not a rule but it is a best practice to keep the bottom layer free of added oils.

I use walnut gel as well, it will not yellow over time so that is a great option. Natural Pigments sells walnut gel medium on their site. https://www.naturalpigments.com/mediums-grounds/oil-painting-mediums/gels/walnut-oil-gel.html

Great demo! Side question, do you use Oleogel mainly for oiling out and glazing or do you use it through the whole painting process? And advantages of this over, say, walnut oil? Thank you!

Very beautiful. Thanks again.

Great demo, thanks Michael! And thanks for demoing the oiling process, can't wait to try it on my next painting. Love to watch you paint. You started with a nice painting and made it really beautiful with the added darks and lights!

Thank you Judith, enjoy your watercolor sketch.

Thank you so much for this lesson. I will watch it again tomorrow at the hospital. I will try to paint it but it will be watercolor, not very forgiving to say the least. Your flowers are always beautiful and perfection!
