It's been a long time since I updated my website, so I posted a few images of older pieces for you all to study. If you have any questions or requests for video demos regarding a particular piece, please let me know in the comments. Thanks!

Gray, thank you so much. That is super thoughtful of you to put together. Painting can be a fascinating thing, beauty can be alluring and a difficult thing to pin down. I’m glad my work resonates with you.

Truly a feast for the eyes, Michael, even in the reductive posted-photo of the 'real' thing way of digital representations, yet so much evidence here of how true it is that you are equally proficient in whatever genre you focus on. I'm not sure whether or not this is the right term, but I make a distinction in the still life between the floral still life and objective still life, and both types of yours knock my proverbial socks off. The objective ones, such as the pile of sticks, the caught fish & eel in foil, rope & pitchfork on a bench, the antique velvet sofa (and I watched along as you painted the workbench w/leather tools and paper towels you offered a year or so ago) -- I find especially illuminating because they lose their subject matter (almost) and become -- well--the story of light, or of human presence absent-the human. That you see a basically monochromatic pile of sticks worth your time and are able to make art of it, that is, make me see it as if I'd never seen such before, is one form of your genius. Maybe the right term is organic and inorganic. The leopard skin and roses combines the two. How to inform an inorganic human-made or used object with the life that made or used it? You apparently know how to do that, and it leaves me gobsmacked. So grateful you updated your website (and I appreciate the simplicity of 'paintings' 'home' 'person' -- I mean, what more is there to say?). Thank you.

That’s a really thoughtful interview, thank you for sharing. Only watched half so far, lots to digest there!

I forgot to mention, there is beauty is much that surrounds us. I learned a lot from looking at Antonio Lopez Garcia and Andrew Wyeth's work. Two masters of contemporary art. You can see an old interview here https://youtu.be/iwnEKkXmAls

These are all so lovely Michael. I would like advice in your videos about edges. I am always struggling to make interesting edges. This year my goal is to improve my edges....I want to make lots more lost ones and improve my brushwork and I would love to hear any tips you have for that. Perhaps you can mention your thoughts about how to do that in your next video as you do edges so well and you make it look easy. (which it is not)

That would be great!

Hi Keeb, there is an old DVD out there some where. I don't have access to them now but that's a good idea. Maybe I will do a livestream of me watching it and adding updated commentary. The majority of the demo is without instruction so it wouldn't be difficult to do.

Thanks Barbara! It should be my top priority as a visual artist to have a good website, but I guess I take things for granted. I'm glad you like them. Good memories!

So many exquisite paintings. I always loved the rose bush in the pot you painted in Argentina and remember fondly when you were painting the leopard in the Harlem studio. Thank you for sharing.

I haven’t seen that fishbone painting by you, didn’t think there could be beauty in that, but there it is! I heard about a “black dress” painting video you did, but I can’t find it anywhere and was wondering if that would be making an appearance on your patreon?
