wow, I wasn't familiar with Amaldus Neilsen's work. Thank you for sharing! Everyone should check him out, the atmosphere he creates is fantastic. Maybe I will do a post of some of my favorites...

Thank you for that, I’ll keep pushing. I want to say that this series has brought me to the works of Amaldus Nielsen and the rest of his contemporaries. I wasn’t very familiar with this movement before but I’m on a cloud now, so thank you again

Hi Kasmin, thanks, I'm glad you are enjoying the series. The best advice I can think of without seeing what you are looking at and what your painting is doing is 1. make sure you have two brushes for a dark and a light 2. keep a clean paper towel nearby to clean your brushes in between attempts at getting the desired look 3. always paint the dark first and lay the lighter color on top of that. The pressure with which you place the lighter note will determine your value gradation and edge control.

I’m loving this natural approach series you’re doing, thank you so much for this. I have a question about how you’ve added lead white to black sections of your painting like you did in the laces. I’m working on a metallic, reflective object in my painting with a similar approach to yours but I’m having issues with muddying and temperature shifts. It’s a small area but with many changes at that. Do you have advice?
