Deathable 0.3.5 | Dev Report #1 (Goals And a bit of Explanation)

For the next update I'm going to continue developing gameplay mechanics and implementing them into the game. But as every update has a lewd-scene, I'll also add an alternative Maria's night scene in Episode 2.
Goals:
- Add: Alternative night scene with Maria at Episode 2
- Add: combat mechanics (Technically)
- Add: spells mechanics (Technically)
- Add: free roam events up to Episode 3 morning
- Convert heavy renders into webp
I've slightly talked about this topic on my Discord, but I also like to cover it here. The game wasn't intended to be a full-fledged visual novel and when I started to develop this game I planned in which moments what gameplay features would be presented to the player. But because of the lack of experience in coding I didn't show gameplay features until they work in a way I'm satisfied with. At this point I finally get it to work and know how to actually code it.
So, the game chronologically crawls to the point where combat and spells mechanics take place - episode 4. In episode 4 combat and spell mechanics are the main focus. To start episode 4, I first need to implement a few things: 2 new characters, combat, spells system, freeroam mechanics and inventory. Last two things were added in 0.3.2 update, and others need to be added until or with the 0.4.0 update. The foundation for the combat and spells system is already made, what's left is to design it. It still takes some time, so I had to sacrifice the story progression to develop gameplay mechanics.
Recently I re-thought the approach of combat mechanics and decided to make it turn-based, for the sake of better performance, plus it offers more calm and variable gameplay.

I agree that its probably smart to build a strong foundation for the various systems before moving forwarf with the story, I think youre making the right moves ^^. Also the game is sooop high quality, and im sure the game is gonna be even greater once these various systems for spells, combat etc. are in place. Keep up the great work Meorless :D
