Howdee fine patrons! We hope you are well. :) Work continues on the next ERB, but EpicLLOYD has found time to go through your MTB match-up ideas.
So, lets see what he thought of the lucky seven picks... [the theme this time was gaming based so a few of the ideas relate to that theme]

Jerry Springer vs Vince McMahon [submitted by Paddy]
All in all I think this match-up is odd. I don't see the connection between these two and I'm not sure they have enough to really align to create a beef for a battle. I feel it would leave most viewers scratching their heads and I don't think they'd be wrong for doing so.
Duke Nukem vs John Wayne [submitted by Tuff]
This is pretty fun. Clint Eastwood is really close to John Wayne for me but it's been a while and they are pretty different in a lot of way including era. Duke Nukem seems like a great choice for gamers. He's a classic. But still not sure either of these characters would make into a battle but upon first glance this matchup is certainly a smiler.
Captain America vs Captain Picard [submitted by J-Star]
I like this. Colorful and rich with jokes and details. Picard is so different than Captain Kirk that I think viewers could stand another Star Trek episode and Captain America shows up so well in the Avengers movies that I have a newfound love for him. I like.
Mega Man vs Astro Boy [submitted by Vivian & Dragonsblood23]
Mega Man has been a good choice for a while. I liked that game a lot and his vibe lines up with ERB a lot. I don't know Astro too well but seems like even on a blind taste test would have a ton of fun backstory and history. I think I'd enjoy writing this one.
Minecraft Steve vs Frank Lloyd Wright [submitted by Cheske & MarblePipes]
More like Meh-craft amiright?!!! I know the game is huge. I don't care. It was always boring as hell to me. And combining it with Frank Lloyd Wright worsens it for me. HE IS A BESMIRCH UPON THE NAME LLOYD!!!
Hideo Kojima vs Todd Howard [submitted by FoxDoc, Neo & Paddy]
I love the idea of a battle of video game makers. It's actually kind of more interesting to me than using the video game characters themselves. For me this reeks of a potential cavalcade ERB. A bunch of different game designers and these guys could certainly be included. But as a straight head to head I think it might leave a bit to be desired though.
The Predator vs Chris Hansen [submitted by GlenOck]
I like one of these. And I see the connection. But imagining myself writing jokes about child predators, even if it's about catching them, makes my skin crawl. Also, I don't think most people would know the name Chris Hansen just on first glance. Let's match The Predator up with an alien or something like that. Would be way more fun and less of a headache.

A few extra thoughts from our manager HeadMonk...
Captain America vs Captain Picard feels like the standout idea of this round. It's a clean pairing with lots of scope and a nice strong Pete vs Lloyd idea. I realise some fans say things like 'we don't need more comic book characters' but they always offer such a bountiful supply of material to work with.
I'm gonna disagree with Lloyd about Hideo Kojima vs Todd Howard and say I'd rather see more video game characters in ERB than see us do a game developer based battle. It's not a bad idea. It's got potential, it should poll well, but it just doesn't excite me personally.
I actually like Jerry Springer vs Vince McMahon partly because its not got much of a connection other than well known TV names who orchestrate fights on camera. I think there'd be a lot of potential to write a really fun battle with a lot of chaos in the video too. We can sometimes place too much emphasis on connections but, if it's fun who cares.
I've never played Minecraft but Steve in an ERB could probably get a lot of fans excited. But I'm not sure most of those same people would get excited about Frank Lloyd Wright. It's like the opposite of Springer vs McMahon, the connection maybe drains the fun out of it.

A new round of MAKETHISBATTLE now begins!!
The theme this time is "Toon Tunes". We'll be looking out specifically for a few matchups that could work well as a future animated battle. It could be characters known for being animated or real life individuals who might work well in an animated format. Bonus points for thinking outside the box.
You can of course always ignore the theme completely if you prefer. But, when selecting the match-ups for feedback we will select 2 or more suggestions that suit the theme.
Same rules apply. Seven match-ups in total will be selected. Three suggestions per person. You can post them in the comments below, email them to erbpatreon@gmail.com or post them on the Discord server in the dedicated '#make-this-battle' channel.
Deadline for submissions is... 5pm PT on Wednesday 11th August.
