Election Demo No.1

Hello fine patrons!

Hope you all enjoyed the new Election battle. This one was a long journey for us. There were times it felt like it might not even happen. But we kept plugging away and we are really happy with the final video.

But, here's a demo we developed when we were exploring the idea of bringing in extra characters into the battle. Trump would have had only one verse. Followed by Biden with one verse. But then we'd have the two VP candidates join, followed by Bernie Sanders to end.

We didn't have a proper set of lyrics at this stage. So, there's a lot of mumbling. This demo was more about plotting out how it could possibly flow. Initially we were very excited about this idea. The VP stuff had a lot of scope. And some of the bits of lyrics you'll hear are a lot of fun. We also explored using different beats too.

But, once we started to dig down on the writing it all started to feel bloated and it lacked any real direction. We just couldn't make it work as well as we'd hoped in this demo. Having Bernie end the battle was problematic too, as it would have been rather heavily weighted on the Democrat side of things.

The other issue was Trump and Biden would have ended up playing a much smaller role in the battle. That might have felt a little strange. It might have been more light and bouncy but it could have lead to it all feeling rather superficial; especially on repeat listens. But this approach definitely had potential.

After a lot of back and forth, we came to the decision to go ahead with a straight 1 vs 1 setup instead. Which just felt the best solution all things considered.
