"Most Wanted" #7: Spider-Man - Final Five Poll!
Added 2020-09-14 23:05:29 +0000 UTC
We were inundated with suggestions for the latest round of "Most Wanted". But, we've now had chance to look into all your ideas for opponents for Spider-Man.
It's been a tricky round to choose just five. So, a few potential opponents can count themselves unlucky not to make it on to the final five poll. But, we got there in the end!
We now need you to vote for your personal favorite opponent to face SPIDER-MAN
The runners and riders are...
1) Franz Kafka - the author of "The Metamorphosis" (a book about a regular guy who turned into an insect) versus the regular guy who gained spider based special powers.
2) Hercules - the ultimate mythological hero vs the ultimate comic book hero. A clash of ancient legend and modern day hero. Beefy Brawn vs Spider Senses.
3) Marie Curie - the lady who undertook pioneering research on radioactivity versus the hero who received his powers from a radioactive spider.
4) Peter Pan - two cocky, tight wearing teenagers both called Peter who never grow up in their stories. Both fly through the air and battle villains to protect those around them.
5) Tarzan - the tree-swinging "king of the jungle" vs the skyscraper swinging super hero from New York. It's the battle of the best 'swingers' in town.
Remember - just because an opponent wins a poll doesn't mean that's the only character we'd put in an ERB with Spider-Man. These polls are about exploring whats out there and getting opinions. Not to try to make any final decision on who a character should face.
If your own personal idea wasn't selected, we would like to think you'd all be able to support at least one of the final five ideas. :) Thank you to everyone who submitted suggestions.
In the next 24-48 hours we will also upload a poll on the YouTube community page to see what the wider fan-base think of these options. But - right now lets see what you lovely patrons think! Get voting!

Hercules is the firm one, I belive that Hercules fits the adult Spidey. Two of the most popular heroes of all time.

2024-02-28 02:21:12 +0000 UTCI'm honestly meh on Hercules as a matchup, and Tarzan is just... okay. Kafka and Curie are interesting, unorthodox choices. But Peter Pan? Wow, I never even thought about that, and there's so many more layers you can explore with both (like how the two of them represent the ultimate fantasy for kids/teens: never growing up vs. becoming your own superhero).

2020-09-15 17:43:50 +0000 UTCI agree with your girlfriend, but I'm glad Kafka isn't winning now—spiders aren't insects.

2020-09-15 15:38:04 +0000 UTCI'd love to see Marie Curie, but with another opponent. Kafka, yeah, cool, but vs. Spiderman shouldn't it be Gregor Samsa (the protagonist of the story, not the author)? Hercules... not sure, a bit too unspecific for me. Tarzan would be a good choice, but my vote is firmly on Peter Pan.

2020-09-15 14:33:03 +0000 UTCWow. What a difficult choice! All of these sound fantastic. For Marie Curie, I'd almost think that Dr. Strange would be more interesting. Science vs. Magic?

2020-09-15 12:48:03 +0000 UTCI vote for Kafka because I love how ERB utilizes the surreal humor of the internet to teach it a bit about history. The contrast is hilarious and it's one of the historical figures that's just a great source of motifs (his soltitude is a good reflection of the Jewish soltitude and of all the geniuses lost in the history).

2020-09-15 10:25:36 +0000 UTCTarzan, Hercules, and Peter Pan are all good ones. Marie Curie is someone I'd like to see in a battle, but I'm not sure Spider-Man is the right opponent. Kafka's connection to Spider-Man is kind of a stretch, but he'd be interesting to see in a future battle.

2020-09-15 02:41:01 +0000 UTCI think my favorite would be Hercules, but only if he's depicted with the intelligence he shows in myth. Actually that goes for both of these characters: They can do some dumb things sometimes, and that's absolutely part of who they are, but they are both very smart and it shows in how they solve their problems: They apply their superhuman abilities in intelligent, unexpected ways.

2020-09-15 02:16:20 +0000 UTCOoof, all of these are good. Not super sold on Tarzan or Hercules but they'd be fun. I like Kafka but maybe it's too esoteric? I guess I'll vote for Marie Curie because I'd prefer one of the characters to be real, although Pan would be a dynamite matchup too (they even both have alliterative names, there are so many parallels).

2020-09-15 01:18:45 +0000 UTCYes, Peter Pan vs Spider Man already rhymes, lots of ideas to explore in the 2 of them!

2020-09-15 00:47:28 +0000 UTCPeter Pan makes it a name battle too, and there are a lot of designs to go off of with the opponent. The design from the 2003 film with Jason Isaacs has a cool ghillie suit look to it.

2020-09-14 23:55:57 +0000 UTCI notice the "NO" option has been removed this time around. Good thing there's a matchup I enjoy here!

2020-09-14 23:29:38 +0000 UTCI like Tarzan vs Spider-Man much moreso for the "spider-man vs ape-man" thing than the swingers connection. Voted Peter Pan but think Hercules and Tarzan are both good ideas (Curie and Kafka feel like huge stretches to me)

2020-09-14 23:19:26 +0000 UTCI let my girlfriend pick and she chose Tarzan but it looks like we might need to brush up on Franz Kafka. Lol
