#MakeThisBattle Poll #22
Added 2020-06-22 00:27:22 +0000 UTCA new MTB poll is in d'house! Its often hard to predict how things will go with these votes wise. There's a bunch of cool ideas this time. Thanks to everyone who submitted ideas.
Last time out the overall winner of the poll was Lex Luthor vs Jeff Bezos with a massive 47% of the vote. The Brothers Grimm vs Aesop came second with 27%. Both great ideas. The rest were no where in sight!
But, let's get down to this new poll. Choose wisely folks!!

I'm sorry but this still made me laugh hard.

2020-06-23 07:42:41 +0000 UTCX-Files is a very beloved, nostalgia-inducing series as well. It’s just nostalgic for a slightly different crowd.

2020-06-23 07:40:02 +0000 UTCAh, but the contrast here lies in their methods - serious detective work vs. lovable animated cowardice. And it’s certainly not one-sided in my mind; a well-done comedic relief character can stand equal to or higher than a well-done straight man character.

2020-06-23 07:36:49 +0000 UTCForgive me, I’m not intending to antagonize. I’m merely expressing my opinion about what makes two characters, or sets of characters, work well together. But my major point that I wanted to make is that more than one plausible matchup option can work for a given character, and I feel it’s unfair to let the preference of a particular matchup detract from the potential of others. Scooby vs. Blue’s Clues is absolutely a fine option, as is Scooby vs. X-Files. We may have different preferences for the characters, but I feel it’s important to allow the possibility of alternatives.

2020-06-23 07:33:06 +0000 UTCFirstly, Mr. T and Mister Rogers are both role models for children, but Mr. T is the “tough, cool guy” who teaches kids why it’s cool not to do drugs whereas Mr. Rogers is the “affable mentor” who sparks children’s imaginations and stokes their sense of kindness. Seems to me you are just bringing up examples of my point - battles with singular, easily understood connections but plenty of differences to joke about. Now let’s take Shaggy and Scooby vs. Steve and Blue. They’re both parody detectives, as you said. Both are a man/dog pair. Both men are mild hippies. Both have rumored drug use. So where do they differ - what would they actually rap about where you can see their differences? Well, Steve is mostly following Blue around to figure out what the day’s activity is, whereas Shaggy and Scooby are fleeing from - er, chasing men in spooky ghost costumes. Not particularly interesting in juxtaposition.

2020-06-23 07:28:34 +0000 UTCAnd it's interesting when you can say "you hunt aliens! Can be countered with "well so do you!" It's the context of how you use the insults! Plus again, I'll jump back to the one sideness of X-Files V. Scooby-Doo! After you get the clear obvious comparisons what else is there really left to the battle. I know ERB could and would make it work! But IMO I feel the potieital of Steve/Blue vs. Shaggy/Scooby can be one of those battles remebred as one of the greats! You take two beloved nostalgic characters with plenty of comparison asides from just the drug references and plenty of material to use as insults against both!

2020-06-23 07:27:14 +0000 UTCWell here's your solid singular connection, Parody of detectives who have a dog! Here's there reason for beefing with each other! Blue put a clue on Shaggys sandwich! I get where you are coming from, but it makes no sense when were talking about Rap Battles! There is no pattern to what battles get made some have a solid connection where others is both have the name Wonder in the name or are two pairs of fighting brothers! I mean why would Mister T have any beef with Mister Rogers???
OmgWtfLolFtwBrb
2020-06-23 07:12:01 +0000 UTCAfter all, it's not very interesting when "You're on drugs!" can be countered with "Well so are you!"
Foxdoc
2020-06-23 07:10:47 +0000 UTCAh, therein lies the rub. I find it preferable when characters have a solid singular connection, perhaps with smaller side connections, but an additional noteworthy contrast. I want to think about why the characters might actually have beef with one another, and I just don't see Shaggy having any beef with Steve.

2020-06-23 07:06:38 +0000 UTCWell personally thinking, I find Scooby v. X-Files one sides focusing on one thing that relates then (Monsters/Ailens) the reason I believe Steve & Blue is a better match up isn't because it's Blues Clues vs. Scooby-Doo. It's the simmilarites between the two along with the plethora of jokes to be made at each other's expense! Both Shaggy/Steve are parodies of detectives with a dog who can or has spoken and who have both been joked about being on drugs!

2020-06-23 07:03:39 +0000 UTCThey're in quarantine like the rest of us. They can't exactly shove twenty people into a studio and make a battle simply because we're bored.

2020-06-23 06:57:40 +0000 UTCI try not to let myself get locked into any one matchup. I prefer it when characters have multiple good options. But personally speaking, I think Scooby-Doo vs. X Files is much more fun than Scooby Doo vs. Blue's Clues - partially because the contrast is much funnier, partially because I'm not particularly fond of Blue's Clues for ERB in the first place, and primarily because having Blue's Clues makes Scooby and Shaggy the more "serious and mature" contenders in the matchup, which is in my mind not the role they should fill.

2020-06-22 17:14:37 +0000 UTCI'm not a fan of Scoob/Shaggy vs. Mulder/Scully, and that is 100% my basis getting in the way!I just feel like Shaggy &Scoob vs. Steve and Blue from Blues Clues is a much better option! With that being said, this has got to be the beat MTB poll you've guys have posted yet! Andre/Dinklage! Fonz/Urkel! Hussein/Castro & Exotic/Woods are all battles that could be mad into reality imo
OmgWtfLolFtwBrb
2020-06-22 15:50:21 +0000 UTCThe Mulder/Scully one is by far the option I’ve been most hyped for since these polls started.

2020-06-22 06:25:51 +0000 UTCTo be honest, I think your talents would be well suited to provide an animated scooby for that match up. xD

2020-06-22 04:53:35 +0000 UTCMulder & Scully is the best one here

2020-06-22 03:37:55 +0000 UTCBefore Ghostbusters Vs Mythbusters I always hoped for Ghostbusters Vs the Scooby Gang. But I like Mulder & Scully just as much as a match up! Gets my vote!

2020-06-22 02:04:04 +0000 UTCIf you use Saddam Hussein in a battle, it's absolutely essential to include a reference to the Tocci Eminem parody videos that were all over the place during the early days of the Interwebz as we know them...
Thomas Peluso
2020-06-22 01:57:19 +0000 UTCMy two cents; Hercules is better off against another character, especially if you're going Disney's Hercules. I think Disney Hercules vs Kratos is a pretty good match up. Shaggy and Scooby COULD work against Mulder and Scully, but I feel maybe both could have stronger opponents?

2020-06-22 00:41:05 +0000 UTCSaddam vs Castro just for that Ba'ath face joke.

2020-06-22 00:37:23 +0000 UTCScooby and Shaggy vs Mulder and Scully can be done so well
