Good morning / afternoon / evening everyone, and welcome to another edition of Make This Battle! I’m your host, Nice Peter, and I’m pretending as if I’m not just sitting by myself in front of a keyboard. :) Let' see what delights or doodoo we have today...

Andre the Giant vs Peter Dinklage [submitted by JustGamer]

Right off the bat, we have a hilarious suggestion that is perfect in every way. Except casting.  No it cannot be Lloyd as Peter Dinklage, how dare you? What’s that you say? Lloyd as both characters? That’s a genius idea. I’m sold. I have nothing to add about this match-up. It’s perfect, and I never would have thought of it. If Lloyd could play both people (maybe with my voice as Dinklage) I don’t know if I would ever stop laughing.

The Fonz vs Steve Urkel [submitted by mblpns & Dragonsblood23]

Why are all these suggestions so good today? Has the pressure to be “smart” been removed? This is also genius. So much fun to these characters. These are the kinds of suggestions I want to get at a live show when we do the improvised battles. Again, nothing to add, this is flawless, hilarious, and fun.

Saddam Hussein vs Fidel Castro [submitted by Poison-Type Octacle]

Okay now this is just getting ridiculous, this is another bull’s eye. I’m uncomfortable with how brilliant this edition of MTB suggestions is. Saddam brings everything you need, backstory, power, brutal demise, even a gnarly quote during his execution.  (If I remember correctly, he said “is this manly?” as he was about to be hanged. Gnarly. Fidel has a nice anti-hero vibe, tons of history, and for some reason when Saddam was thrown into the mix I didn’t mind so much that we already did Che. Bravo. I love it. If Lloyd plays Saddam, is that considered Ba’ath face?

John James Audubon vs Colonel Sanders [submitted by Evan Powell]

Well, we were bound to bottom out eventually. I hate it. I hate this tree guy. I don’t hate him, but I don’t think I’ll ever get excited about the idea of him being in a battle. Why does he keep popping up? Admittedly, I still know next to nothing about him. But regardless; I hate Colonel Sanders as a character too. So, at least it's a nice balanced mix of meh. Cymbal chime, get out of here!

Hercules vs Spider-Man [submitted by mblpns]

Okay, we are coming back around to interesting. I really don’t know how we could ever do Spiderman successfully. That said, I’m sure its possible. This is an interesting match-up for him, Hercules has always been on the radar. I don’t love it, but at least it’s not about trees. It has a nice ring to it. Hercules. Spiderman. It's got the click factor. I don't think requests for Spiderman will ever go away so I am sure we will cajoled into him one day. Is Hercules the right opponent? Not sure. 

Joe Exotic vs Tiger Woods [submitted by DyLontheGreat]

Lol. That’s funny. Clever! I’m tickled. Joe Exotic seems to have a staying power on the consciousness, but I wonder if he will still be anything but a joke in a couple of years time.  Tiger Woods is always out there as a great character, while his personality is rather “boring” in real life, he’s well liked, well known, lot’s to talk about, lots of funny golf terms out there, lots to love.

Mulder & Scully vs The Scooby Gang [submitted by Pudenator & Spookymon44]

Would you call them Mulder and Scully? That seems odd. It feels like it would have to be X Files vs Scooby Doo. Maybe I’m wrong, I often am, but I think many many people, believe it or not, would say “who?” Now obviously a whole different group of people would say “yes!!!” to Mulder and Scully, but we’ve gotta remember the plebes. Scooby and Shaggy has warmed on me. I used to hate it more than an… wait… an ornithologist? Why did I think James Audubon was into trees? Now I have to go back and re-examine that suggestion…. Ah…. haha…. Now I get it. Bird dudes. Back to the subject at hand, I used to hate the idea of Scooby and Shaggy, now I’m open to it, but I don’t know about the whole “gang” thing. I think I prefer Scooby and Shaggy going up against some other ghost-crime fighting duo from TV. Oh wait, okay… this is a perfect suggestion. Well done.

"Monk's Hot Takes" - our manager offers a few select thoughts!

I wanna see Pete as Shaggy Rogers. So I don't really care about which opponent he ends up facing as long as I see Pete in that green jumper and screeching Zoinks. That said... Mulder & Scully is a pretty neat suggestion for them to face. You could have shaggy unmasking two aliens - maybe there's a 3rd party angle that could come from that. Three duos. It just says fun to me. My one concern is whether Mulder & Scully is a little dated these days. But, X files is widely known. As for Saddam Hussein it feels like we could get away with doing him now. He's not someone who gets suggested that often. But he's perfect for an ERB and I think him and Fidel Castro sound like two people who could really go at it. I can't wait to see Nicholas Cage as Joe Exotic in the movie they are making. That will be a hoot. But yeah I worry too whether he has the lasting appeal past that. Although 30m people supposedly watched the Netflix documentary! As for Spiderman he's up there as probably the top tier superhero that we will need to cover one day. But there's never been a really good opponent that's stuck out for him. Facing Tarzan is a bit cheesy to me. Tintin isn't gonna make anyone moist. Hercules - well hes another who's certainly top tier - so maybe smashing them together could make for a fun battle.

As one round of MTB closes that means a new round begins!!

In light of recent events it feels apt to have the theme as 'Black Lives Matter' this time around. So we will be picking at least 2 match-up ideas that feature one or more black historical or fictional characters. But, you can as always choose to ignore the theme and submit anything you wish. 

Same rules apply. Three suggestions per person. You can post them in the comments below, email them to erbpatreon@gmail.com or post them on the Discord server in the dedicated '#make-this-battle' channel.
