Here’s a little backstory, from what I can remember, which is not everything…
It was sometime in Oct/Nov 2011. Lloyd had just quit his job at a theater to work full time on ERB; we got a larger crew, some new producers, the whole machine had got bigger.
We wrote, recorded, and filmed a chunk of new battles, and that itself was a first for us. We had always made them one at a time from start to finish. I think this particular chunk was Nice Peter vs EpicLLOYD, Vader vs Hitler 2, Henry VIII vs Hillary Clinton and Masterchief vs Leonidas.
So this video was slated to be Season 2 Episode 2. At the time, we felt pretty good about the writing but looking back it’s pretttttty dated. I still think Shay Carl did an amazing job overall and the actress playing Hillary Clinton did a rock solid Hillary Clinton impression.
But, right there is where it all starts to crumble. A rock solid Hillary Clinton acting impression is pretty irritating, at best. It certainly doesn’t lend itself well to making a good catchy song.
It was during the music editing and mixing process that I first started to realize the truth. I just could not make the song sound good. I was trying every trick I knew at the time, including more chops and screws than we normally use (“J-J-J- John McCain” type stuff)
Nothing was working. It just wasn’t a good song.
Especially when I looked at the upcoming running order: Vader Hitler 2 , Bad Song, Masterchief vs Leonidas. It made no sense for the series, no sense for the channel, and no sense for the fans.
We made the decision to shelve the battle, always thinking we’d find the right time to release it to the right people somehow.
Here is that right time, and you are one of those right people. I hope you enjoy this peek into our process, and I think you’ll understand why the decision was made. :)

But what else would they gave to say about each other that hasn't already been said in the 3 we have? I think the only one who would have any new material against would be Vader, since his canon is ever changing. There's maybe a couple things about Hitler left to say, but he's hard to make new material without going back on the old.

I think the only thing the song was missing was "dynamic flows" the pace was even throughout the song. I can tell you guys worked hard on slow to quick transitions since. I love the way Shaycarl played Hillary especially at the end, Henry VIII was awesome too, and in terms of the lyrics themselves, they were great and it all had potential. It felt like, the vision was there for sure, just felt kind of off beat at times!
