#MakeThisBattle - Feedback from Peter! [Aug 2nd]

Thank you for all your submissions in the #makethisbattle process. This round was slightly different, as you were asked for suggestions for both ERB and FITP style match-ups. 

Here are the five ERB style match-ups that were selected for feedback from Peter...

Alan Turing vs Neo (submitted by Eoghan)

I like Alan Turing a lot, it seems an especially good time what with the 50 pound note becoming him in England. Neo doesn’t feel right to me, at least not in this battle. Neo is a funny character, but I think he has to go against some kind of evil, some bad guy. Turing is too much the better hero.  What about Alan Turing vs Harriet Tubman, if for no other reason than…

Amelia Earhart vs Neil Armstrong (submitted by ChiefLanevis)

I mean, I think yes, right? It’s been out there long enough, we have some great new female rappers in the extended guest crew, why not? The match up is solid, the characters are interesting enough. We did try to do this a long time ago and Neil Armstrong felt boring. I think with the renewed interest in space and Mars and the moon and NASA, it’s time.

Jesse James vs Pancho Vila (submitted by SwanSchlong)

I don’t like Jesse James right off the bat, and I don’t know why. Maybe because it feels like somebody I’m supposed to know, but don’t, and it makes me mad at myself for feeling dumb? I’m going to google him… alright yeah I knew he was the Outlaw type, looking at him closer, I still don’t like it. He also looks like a dick. Pancho Villa feels more interesting to me as a character, maybe there’s a different match-up for him. Did he square off against Patton in real life at one point? Or do I have that mixed up?   

John Wayne vs Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (submitted by  BTTF)

Hahaha - this is so awesome. I never saw this coming even as I read it. I love it. I wish it could be done, I hope it can be done. Nothing to add, this is just great. Lloyd as John Wayne right? Then just gotta find someone to play The Rock. I love it. Still love it.

Jon Snow vs Luke Skywalker (submitted by MBoulder)

Ahhhhhhhhhhh I don’t know. No. I do know. No. Maybe. I don’t know. There’s obviously so much material here, but it doesn’t feel like the right match-up, feels more like homo-erotic fan fiction, which is all fine and good, but not exactly the kind of fire we look for in an ERB.

I will add a poll shortly on the five ERB style match-ups - where you can vote for your favorite one. (Just for info: in the last poll it ended up being very close, but the overall winner was 'Jigsaw vs The Riddler' with 30% of the vote)

In this round of submissions Peter also looked through the best of the FITP style match-ups that were submitted, and was asked him to pick his favorite two submissions... [drumroll] ....

Vince McMahon vs Don King  (submitted by billyboy)

Hilarious. New second best. I like it, seems fun to write. If we only do a wig could me or Lloyd play Don King in a FITP? 

Don Quixote vs Donkey Kong (submitted by Efftien)

Hahaha. Hahahaha. Because of the sounds of their names? Amazing. Hilarious. This is just incredible. I have no other notes.

So, the overall winning FITP selection was Don Quixote vs Donkey Kong! Well done to patron Efftien for coming up with the idea.

We will create a channel in the Discord server later this weekend where all of of you are invited to help write that FITP battle from scratch. If it ends up being good enough Peter and Lloyd may make it into an actual video. So - lets make it good yah?!

But - first step - start researching Don Quixote and Donkey Kong - the actual writing process will start at some point over the weekend.
