The Darkness

Comments

I was also at T in the Park in 2003. I didn’t see The Darkness because I was watching Ocean Colour Scene in the King Tuts tent at the same time. I did see them in 2002 when I’d no idea who they were. They were supporting Def Leppard.

The rich and famous life got the better of them for a while.

Just a bunch of lads from Suffolk.. The best..

For a brief moment in the mid-naughties, in the UK, it felt like The Darkness were the biggest band in the world. And then they seemed to just disappear. Like a flash.

The memories, still one of the best weekends of my life. Got a little emotional there too!

I live about 10 minutes walk from where they have Reading festival ( it’s one of the biggest music festivals in England) and I have only ever been there once and that was to see Eminem but love this song sometimes I can hear the bands clearly depending on the wind

Think I may have even been there, can't remember exactly. If this was Reading festival, then possibly. Will have to check the year dates to see if I remember. πŸ€”

Uninteresting bit of trivia, they released this in 2002 but it was a complete flop, if you consider the charts the top 100, they didn't chart... So when I saw this live in T in the Park 2003, absolutely no one had heard it and it was introduced as their first single - but they did really well and it was the intro he told us it was a previous flop but will be getting released again. This was July 2003, it was then released in September 2003, went to I think 2 in the UK charts. So by the time they were playing at Reading, everyone knew the song.

My gosh, when I was in school this was THE song to dance to at the school discos and Christmas parties πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ long time since I heard it

Nicholas Ferguson

Coming of age in the 2000s and being a big queen fan I used to class them as a modern day queen/Freddie Mercury

Ooh excellent, I love The Darkness! (And Justin Hawkins Rides Again… again) Permission to Land is superb - it’s quite varied, definitely recommend checking out more They’re still great to see live if you get the chance
