https://youtu.be/Y5AtmLsHTtk

The October 2024 Wrap Up episode is now up for LGR supporters, now in the new temporary rental location that I'll be in for the next... amount of time. So let's dive into the videos from the past month as well as your questions!

Feel free to leave any questions for next month's video in the comment section below this post. Thank you so much for your ongoing support, you are truly my primary income right now since normal LGR YouTube stuff is still ramping back up while my house is being rebuilt, so again β€” THANK YOU.

Sorry for such a deep question! Thank you for answering it! I would like to ask about Asheville & Hendersonville as it is today. How is it? Ive read and heard that so many are still without homes, power, water and it really makes me wonder the state of your city? I hope much has improved since in the city!

Question: Do you have any thoughts or advice for collectors in light of the situation? Whether it's just keeping inventory of a collection, to focus on things you only want rather than buying everything rare or expensive for the hell of it or even to consider downsizing. I have a 6x2ft shelf with games, outside of a few rare/expensive items it's mainly stuff I have enjoyed over the years, hidden gems or random $10-20 purchases like Shaq Fu on Genesis. Despite only having 190 games in my collection the value is $6-7k. It's easy to lose track of the value when buying games over a long period. I think it's important for people to have a goal in mind when collecting so it doesn't become hoarding. The bulk of my Playstation/Xbox 360 games are from my near complete Silent Hill and Rockstar Games collection but I don't collect anything on those systems. My main collection is Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast. I think people get carried away with buying everything and anything. I only buy games I would play or have an interest in and all my consoles are hooked up and playable.

Thanks for the answer about your storage situation! Glad to hear it was perched just high enough to avoid flood damage πŸ˜… Also very sorry to hear about the nasty comments directed at you when you were showing your damaged house. People love getting high off YouTube drama these days on creators they don’t follow and it’s exhausting. Questions: - what’s your current editing setup in your rental place? Did the Threadripper rig survive intact? - in past LGR videos with vintage cameras, you took pics of places around Asheville to preserve that old school look. How many of those places survived? Here’s to a cheerful holiday season ahead!

After all the money spent on tree removal, it would be a shame if you eventually fix up the property and subsequently move on, but I can understand how you may be feeling about moving back in. This could be a life defining moment for you. I'm sure you will think long and hard about lifestyle changes. Great to see you are well. Oh yeah, I completely understand about external noise in the home. What a pain in the arse that is! Home restoration vids are not my cup of tea either. Quite an emotional video for me. Best of luck with all your endeavours. I'm very happy to be part of your Patreon community here and help ( in a very small way) to get you through this. Take care mate.

Boring a lesson as it is, your experience is a good reminder to check my insurance coverage and inventory - as much as you can never plan for the sort of shit you've had hit, that extra safety net seems... Prudent. And I'm sure you've read the sentiment a hundred times already, but look after yourself man - your well-being is worth way more than anything else.

Question: Since you showed a lot of untraditional unboxing of items that got wet, some of them were sealed and still got moisture inside but you kept the contents. Are you planning to use those footages once you get to finally reviewing the devices? Like there was a mouse where you just cut off the cellophane, it could work nice as a b-roll while you talk over it. Just an idea but maybe you already thought of it.

Dukefazon

I understand your dilemma with life changing events. My dad died and my life collapsed.

marc eallonardo

Just glad you alive and well. The things we come to think are precious come to mean nothing when disaster hits. Been there, done the things you talked about. Keep up your mental and spirits with talking to others. Good people still exist, as you have experienced. Keep the faith!

David Parker

Dude. From here in New Zealand, please stay well. You'll be back to your usual antics with farts and such eventually, but take care of yourself first. You were the main reason I got myself back into retro tech β™₯️

Thank you for the update Clint! Wishing you all the best from Sydney, Australia. As a bird lover, if you want a few minutes diversion, you're welcome to virtually visit me and my mob of wild cockatoos in Sydney: https://www.youtube.com/@ForTheBirbs

I was half expecting him to light up a cigarette without missing a beat...

Don't feel bad for getting out of it relatively lucky. Everyone likes you and everyone wants good for you so we are al relieved that you and most of your invaluable collection is fine. Don't stress about it, you have a lot to stress about the whole situation, don't make it worse for yourself. I'm living in a flat/amartment and I had a couple of bigger renovations this summer and I stressed the hell out because of it so the thing you are going through is probably tenfolds compared to what I just went through and I felt like shit, I can't imagine what I would do in your case. You did everything correctly, even the fund raiser. That 6 month is going to fly by so fast and you'll be back in business in no time!

Dukefazon

Thanks for the update and it's great to see typical LGR content being posted to the main channel again. Know that there's a ton of folks out there that appreciate what you do and care about what happens to you personally. I witnessed this first hand! :-) A question for next month: Since your house is undergoing a major rebuild, is there anything you're changing/upgrading or would that have added too much time to the process? Hang in there! Also: RIP Hurricane Beard, we hardly knew ye. ;-)

Geekenspiel

Aww dude you absolutely deserve the support and donations that you're getting, even though there are others around you worse off. You musn't feel guilty for any of it, we support you because we want to and because you're worth it :o)

Saint_Redfield

Just my opinion but the house repair and storm and stuff videos. I'd maybe try them out on blerbs and see if it works or not. I'd be hesitant to put them on the main channel for sure. But if nothing else, you could drop some pieces to patrons/channel members. I mean this is the crowd that does care so should at least not have those weird nasty comments. Can't remember the tier system stuff but those could be for anyone supporting. Just a though. Should not feel like "cashing with disaster" since folk already support you.

J Ruonti

Blunt is best :), but yeah after hearing how much the trees alone cost I imagine it's astronomical. I hope insurance will cover most of it!

Neely H

Supporting on here is more than enough at the moment, thank you! To be blunt, having money is truly the biggest help right now for me as it is *all* being spent to return things to normal.

LGR

Definitely agree about Nomad Soul. Such a shame there was never a follow up to that.

Gav Massingham

About giving stuff away to other Youtubers, maybe some of the old digicams can find a new home at Gordon Laing from Cameralabs? He has a great retro-camera channel called Dinobytes, and as veteran tech journalist he knows what he does. Just an idea.

Udo Krawallo

I really feel for you for everything you're going through on top of the initial disaster, everything really seems to happen all at once! It feels really hollow to say all this and not be able to do much to physically help. Is there anything those of us who don't live in the area can help you out with?

Neely H

Thanks! I am admittedly very picky with audio

LGR

I didn't notice any bad background noise in the video. You'll get used to the noise, I bet. Most people do. Best of luck!

David Pierce

Supporting on here is more than enough right now, thank you! I’ll certainly put the word out if there’s anything specific I can’t manage in the future.

LGR

I don't think anyone in the Paetron isn't just sorry you're going through this. You take the time you need to get things back in order. Everyone's allowed to have a bad day, and right now you've just got a bunch of them all stacked up in a row. Is there a wishlist? Is there anything else we can help with?

Michael Lawson

I agree, options beyond Limited Run and Iam8bit and the like for new big box PC games would be great. GOG/CD Projekt definitely have the ability and the resources.

LGR

I do wish someone like GOG would collaborate with the devs and do limited edition physical editions of games or something. Could even be a prettified USB stick in a box or something, idk.

Ben Williams

Survivors guilt is a bitch. Take care of yourself man, glad you are safe and sound.
