LGR - The Main VCFMW Video!

https://youtu.be/Q64ILEMgE34

And here we go again! As you can see by the runtime this is a FAR more easily digestible video of the trip compared to the vlog, ha.

For the most part this is the same type of video I've made about VCF Midwest in previous years, but I tried to mix things up a wee bit by going over some of the prepwork for the show as well as giving a bit of a different take on the con itself. Not only because I really don't like making the same video every year, but also because I truly didn't get the chance to see as much stuff in detail this time. Which meant I didn't have as much to specifically talk about, in terms of individual exhibits and stuff. Besides, there's a bunch more of those hands-on demos and things in the in the vlog already.

So yeah! FINALLY! Other than a few lingering edits and additions to make to the final videos before they go live, the VCFMW 2023 videos are complete. And wow am I ready to get back to my regular LGR comfort zone. At least once I finally get over this danged virus, it has resurged this week and I'm now testing positive again, ugh... so it goes. At least I still have my voice this time and symptoms are quite mild.

I hope you enjoy this video of the convention, and thanks so much for your support during this month of silliness!

22:55 I see an eastgerman icon on this gentlemens shirt there!.

Hey, that's me in the shorts and the checkered shirt at 15:58! And my buddy with glasses is behind me, closer to the Bear-A-Byte PC! We were waiting for a chance to grab a Cool Crab sticker and say thanks for giving some advice, then I came back later when it was a bit quieter and we chatted about the iFeel mouse. I've got an idea for how to showcase the mouse in a video, and will share it via a Patreon message and on the LGR sub-Reddit when I get around to filming it.

Will have to keep my eyes peeled for the LGRWare. If you want labels that wrap around the disk Avery makes a size that fits properly too, the 2 3/4" square labels, available in matte or glossy, template Presta 94109. I have a pack of these I bought a few years ago for my own disks

Stormcrash

I'd rather spend the money on a printer than spend all that time painstakingly cutting down larger prints ๐Ÿ˜„

LGR

Indeed, that's consistently a thing that folks come to realize in the moment! Some people will just start talking like we've known each other for ages, and in the middle I'll have to interject with "by the way, I didn't get your name" and they're like "OH RIGHT"

LGR

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed!

LGR

Only in-person at shows like this, at least for now!

LGR

Yeah I totally get why you enlist all the help you can with disk writing and packaging parties, jeez! It's all so oddly time-consuming and tedious, even at a small scale.

LGR

OMG, where can we get a case sticker? (SHOP.EXE does not return a result).

nada

Wow, looks like you got a small taste of what I deal with all the time, making and selling merchandise. I didn't realize you had put all of those disks and stuff together yourself! And I share your pain on the announcements on the PA. I have complained about that more than once, because, as you say, I can't talk to the people right in front of my face. It wouldn't be so bad if they were just short announcements that were a sentence or two long. But when they go on and on...arg!

The 8-Bit Guy

I loved this video Clint. I only live 20 minutes away from Elmhurst but due to my work schedule, I could not come out this year. It was great seeing you last year and I remember telling you (last year) they need a new larger venue. And now it seems it's even MORE true. The long and short videos are great. Glad you had fun. Please do a full video on the Gyroscope video game if / when you ever see it again! Take Care.

Can't imagine how wiped out you must have been after doing all the meeting and greeting. I image people who've watched your channel for years feel like they know you really well, but most are strangers to you. You're a legend for being so generous with your time and energy.

I really need to visit the US again soon! VCF looks amaaaazing, thereโ€™s nothing quite as big in the UK. Also kudos for the time and effort you put into the LGR merch, buying a printer for the sole purpose of printing 3x3โ€ is dedication ๐Ÿ˜‚

Stace

Nah. Not yet at least!

LGR

Is there a website I can throw my wallet at to acquire the LGR stickers and shareware?

Garoninja

Always amazing who you can find attending these shows. I spotted Bil Herd (of Commodore 128 fame) among the crowd this year.

Stavros Karatsoridis

*THANK YOU* for being honest and forthcoming in the video -- as show organizers, we need that feedback to improve year after year. Some of what you mentioned we knew about, but some of it we didn't, so thanks again. I look forward to seeing you at other shows in the coming years :-) PS: Random Ward Christensen sighting at 12m18 (white shirt)! Ward was co-creator of the BBS in the late 1970s, and the creator of XModem.

Jim Leonard

LMAO at me showing you the photo I took of my wife posing with the Bear-a-Byte PC @ 17:31. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I'd love to hit up a good ham fest at some point! Especially after experiencing a little bit of the parking lot/outdoor swap meet at VCF, that was such a fun free-for-all vibe. Oh and we do at least have VCF Southeast in Atlanta each summer, though I haven't yet attended that one.

LGR

Thanks, although I feel okay! It's mainly the testing that's saying I still have it. The real sickness period was a week ago when I made the previous video :)

LGR

your videos of this show always make it look so amazing. i wish we had one similar that was a bit closer. growing up we had โ€œham festโ€ in shelby nc. not nearly the same, but you could find some pretty interesting hardware/items there.

Dereck

Sorry to hear about the virus, hope you get better soon. Perhaps you could bring back the old school robo LGR DKC review on blerbs as a joke?
