Thanks. I am quite sure you will be positively surprised. The song that typically blows everyone away first listen is Firth of Fifth. Note that the band is using both mellotron as many prog band at that time (you might want to catch up a bit on the instrument mellotron that was a new first sort of analog synth with recorded tapes per key) but also they used bass pedals. Firth of Fifth blows everyone away

I think I might just use your suggestions

Hi Ryan If you want to go the Genesis track and not do every song from every album may I recommend these songs. They are all good songs but still just a sample. As example Nyrsery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England By The Pound and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway are best to listen to in its full in a row., You have to remember that there are very few decent video uptakes from this era. Also this is Progressive Rock like King Crimson, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Camel, Rush, Yes etc. It will take it’s time to get into it but when you are there it is well worth Trespass - White Mountain - The Knife Nursery Cryme - Musical Box - Seven Stones - The Fountain of Salmacis Foxtrot - Watcher of the Skies - Can-Utility and the Coastliners - Supper’s Ready (note 22:52 min long, by many considered their pure masterpiece) Selling England By the Pound - Dancing With the Moonlit Knight - Firth of Fifth (breathtakingly good) - Cinema show and Aisle of Plenty in one go, they sort of go together The Lamb Lies Down in Broadway It is a concept double album with many shorter song to be listened to almost as a musical - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway (the title song) - Carpet Crawler - In the Cage - The Chamber of 32 Doors - Lilywhite Lilith A Trick of the Trail - Dance on a Volcano - Squonk - Ripples - Los Endos Wind and Wuthering. I do not have any favorite. The songs started to be less in my interest as from this album. Not bad but not breathtaking

Hi Ryan, with Genesis you are walking into my turf.🤠 From Genesis to Revelation is a album that very few listen to. Even diehard “old” Genesis fans do not hit this album. Mainly becauthat they had not found their sound yet. Also the band members were not 100% in liking of this album afterwards school. The album was produced by a school friend of them Jonathan King and he wanted Genesis to go in a direction with more pop which later was scrapped by the members. They swapped drummer after this album to John Mayhew for their first real progressive rock album Trespass in 1970 but again replaced the drummer to Phil Collins and also Anthony Phillips on guitar left for their next album Nursery Cryme and there you had their classic line-up with Peter Gabriel singing, Tony Banks on Keyboard, Mike Rutherford bass and guitar, Steve Hacket on lead guitar and Phil Collins on drums. From Trespass, Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England By The Pound, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway you hear the development. However in The Lamb..., that is a concept album., Peter Gabriel had pretty much taking over and he departed after this album. The following two albums Trick of the Trail and Wind and Wuthering from 1976 went back to more melodic progressive rock Then Steve Hackett left and from that the album the remaining trio became more pop oriented and I lost interest in them but followed Peter Gabriel and his first 4 albums are very good. There is a very good documentary made with all the band members talking about album by album that I have put a link here. I encourage you to listen to their albums from Trespass to Wind and Wuthering one by one slowly and enjoy the development of the music. If you want to react to a song try Firth of Fifth from Selling England By the Pound but you will draw the attention of hundreds of diehard Genesis fans so if you do not want to open that can of worms just do it here on Patreon
